Mercedes-Benz Unveils The China Only A-Class L Sedan Variant - Let's Hope It Gets a Global Launch Soon!

Mercedes-Benz have revealed a production version of the A-Class Sedan on the eve of Beijing's Auto China 2018 motor show. The A-Class L Sedan variant is made in China for the China market. I hope this is only something temporary as there is talk that the sedan will be launched globally sometime at the end of this year as a 2019 model. But for now, China, being the largest automobile market in the world takes priority and gets something which is typically China market, a 'L' or long wheelbase version of the smallest sized car sold as a Mercedes-Benz.

Shell Malaysia Road Safety Movement or in the era of hashtags, the #ShellSelamatSampai (#SSS) is a Shell Malaysia CSR programme. The programme is all about road safety awareness and behavioural change among motorcyclists and the youth, who are said to have the highest fatality rate in road accidents in Malaysia. So for 2018, Shell Malaysia has launched another round of it this #SSS campaign with four major programmes aimed at putting through the importance of road safety among the target audience.

Trucks: The Volvo FL Electric Has Been Launched - Volvo Trucks First All-Electric Truck For Commercial Use

Volvo Trucks have introduced the Volvo FL Electric for sale over in Europe. This is the truck manufacturer's first all-electric truck for commercial use and could be the first manufacturer offering a zero emissions commercial vehicle that can easily be bought and run. The FL Electric is based on the Volvo FL series of trucks and its main applications in urban distribution as well as refuse operations. The FL Electric which will start sales and series production in Europe next year and Volvo Trucks will be at the forefront in coming up with solutions for electrified goods transport in cities with this offering.

Perodua Will Continue To Supply Parts For The Previous Generation Myvi And Other Perodua Models Too

Perodua have announced that they will continue their spare parts support their second-generation Myvi for a while longer. This commitment was made when they officially opened a new parts production line dedicated to the second-generation Myvi. The plant is operated by Perodua vendor IQM Sdn Bhd at its Proton City, Tanjung Malim facility. The plant currently produces body components including hoods, doors, fenders, quarter panels and roofs for the second generation Myvi.

The short meet-up session at Scania's headquarters in Bukit Jelutong was the location and it was an opportunity which I would not have missed as it was a chance to delve further into a person who basically stands at the forefront of what is happening in the world of buses and trucks.

Mercedes-Benz Launches The EQ Brand For Their Hybrid Electric Cars - The C350e & E350e Now Designated EQ Power Models

 

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has officially launched the EQ brand here in Malaysia. With this new brand into the Mercedes-Benz portfolio,  the plug-in hybrid models of E 350 e and C 350 e now being designated as EQ Power models. The EQ Power brand will eventually pave the way for EQ, a title reserved solely for a range of pure electric vehicles in the future. These future range of cars will be based on the Generation EQ concept car introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2016.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Records Strong First Quarter 2018 Sales Performance

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) had announced that a total of 3,335 of their premium passenger cars were sold in the first quarter of 2018. This is a double digit growth for the marque where they've achieve growth of 13.2 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2017. Aside from that announcement which somehow shows a Malaysia which seems wanted a lot more Mercedes-Benz, MBM also officially launched the EQ brand  with the plug-in hybrid models of E 350 e and C 350 e now being designated as EQ Power models as well as officially opening the new EQ branded charging stations at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday (this is reported in a follow-up article here).

Today was one of those hectic days. Attended the Mercedes-Benz 1st Quarter 2018 media briefing and the launch of their EQ sub-brand for hybrid and electric powered vehicles. The event was held at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. It was also a record first quarter in sales for them as people are buying Mercedes in record numbers.

And meanwhile.... the Facebook poll launched by PROTON inviting the people to vote for the name of its upcoming and first SUV has attracted a heck of a lot of response for far. According to Proton, as at Wednesday 11th April 2018, more than 69,000 Facebook users had taken the poll while the accompanying video has been viewed over 165,000 times. Motorsport: The Final Races of Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4 SEA) 2017-2018 Season Will Happen at Sepang This Weekend - 13th-15th April 2018

Perodua's GearUp range of accessories for Perodua cars have a new product out - the GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System). This is an add-on tyre pressure monitoring system for Perodua cars. Toyota Eco Youth Program 2018 is Launched - 11 Selected Schools to Come Up With Community Waste Management Solutions & Try Win Some Prizes Too

UMW Toyota Motor launched the 18th edition of Toyota Eco Youth Program 2018 last week. Make the Future Singapore, which is Shell’s festival of ideas and innovation for Asia happened in the Lion City recently and the four-day saw thousands of visitors to see what the future purportedly holds. The part we are most interested in is the mobility portion of the festival especially the Shell Eco Marathon Asia (SEMA) of which seven teams from six Malaysian universities had participated. And this time, Team Eco Voyager from University Malaysia place third in the Prototype – Hydrogen category (above). Not a bad achievement for Malaysia.

Trucks: Tenaga Nasional Berhad Purchases More UD heavy-duty Quester Trucks For its Fleet

Recently, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Fleet Management Department has placed an order of nine units of heavy-duty UD Quester 8-litre rigid trucks. This brings the total number of UD Trucks operated by TNB, the national electricity provider, to 40 UD trucks.  UD Trucks and sole distributor partner Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE)  held a truck key handover ceremony to mark this milestone at the TNB headquarters.

The Malaysia Autoshow 2018 Is An Upcoming Motorshow That Should Not Be Missed - Scheduled For The 26 - 29 April, 2018

There is a major motorshow which will be held in a few weeks time here in Malaysia folks. This is the fourth edition of the annual Malaysia Autoshow organised by Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and will be held from 26 th to 29 th April, 2018 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). This round of the Malaysia Autoshow continues in the footsteps of the previous Malaysia Autoshow in 2017 which recorded over 250,000 visitors. PROTON Continues its Turnaround with More Dealers Upgrading their Outlets & also a Trip To Geely's Facilities in China

PROTON's turnaround process is continuing at a slow and steady pace. Recently the company had announced that 10 more of its dealers will be upgrading their outlets to 3S and 4S. This follows the earlier two batches which were held in December 2017 and January 2018.

The Malaysia Automotive Institute held the MAI Auto Festival 2018 which took place from March 30 to earlier today, at SMK Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, Perak. It was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB. Dato' Seri DiRaja Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, yesterday where he also gave away the main prize for the lucky draw which was a Perodua Axia.

This is a a new two-wheel drive (2WD) variant of Renault’s flagship D-segment SUV and it is now available for booking at all Renault branch showrooms nationwide. Prices of this new variant sits somewhere in between the Koleos 2WD and the Koleos 4WD, at RM198,800 (on-the-road inclusive of GST, without insurance, for Peninsular Malaysia and private registration) onwards.

Volkswagen Malaysia Has Announced A Service Maintenance Schedule Revision For Volkswagen Cars - More Ownership Cost Savings In The Long Run

Good news for all Volkswagen owners out there! Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced a revision on the Service Maintenance Schedule for Volkswagen cars. The new Service Maintenance Schedule will be effective beginning the 1st of April 2018 and according to VPCM, it can offer up to 26% savings for Volkswagen owners (if calculated based on a 5 year or 75,000km duration. This revision will be implemented mainly due to extended replacement intervals of certain components.
