Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) is Now Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) - Expanding Their Scope Towards Enhancing The Malaysian Automotive Industry


The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), has been rebranded as the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii). The announcement was made by the Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Darell Leiking at the Car of the Year 2018 (COTY2018) awards on the 4th of December 2018 and sometime last week, MARii Chief Executive Officer Dato' Madani Sahari spoke to members of the automotive fraternity which comprised of industry players, academics, government bodies and members of the media on the scope expansion of MARii. This included the opportunities created for all stakeholders in expediting the adoption of robotics within the automotive sector in a briefing, titled “An Introduction to the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute”, in MARii’s headquarters in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Proton Enter into a MoU for Vendor Development - Proton CEO Names Underperforming Vendors During the Event




The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), and PROTON yesterday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of which will further optimise shared resources between them which will be applied in developing PROTON’s parts and components suppliers (i.e their suppliers and vendors for their car's parts). This is to ensure they are able to meet global standards in all aspects from cost to efficiency.

Malaysia Automotive Institute and Institut Otomotif Indonesia Enter into a New Memorandum of Understanding


The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and the Institut Otomotif Indonesia (IOI) has entered into a a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster long-term collaboration in the area of automotive industry development, yesterday. The new arrangement was entered into between the two countries' government agencies in order further realise future potential of automotive industry collaboration between the two counties.

The Malaysia Autoshow 2018 Is An Upcoming Motorshow That Should Not Be Missed - Scheduled For The 26 - 29 April, 2018


There is a major motorshow which will be held in a few weeks time here in Malaysia folks. This is the fourth edition of the annual Malaysia Autoshow organised by Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and will be held from 26 th to 29 th April, 2018 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). This round of the Malaysia Autoshow continues in the footsteps of the previous Malaysia Autoshow in 2017 which recorded over 250,000 visitors. Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) is confident to attract more visitors to this year’s event, which promises a diverse and immersive automotive experience for all visitors.

Happenings: At the MAI Auto Festival 2018 in Bagan Datuk, Perak - 30th March to 1st April, 2018


The Malaysia Automotive Institute held the MAI Auto Festival 2018 which took place from March 30 to earlier today, at SMK Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, Perak. It was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB. Dato' Seri DiRaja Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, yesterday where he also gave away the main prize for the lucky draw which was a Perodua Axia.

Upcoming Event - The MAI Auto Festival 2018 from March 30 to April 1, 2018, at SMK Hutan Horizontal, Bagan Datuk, Perak.

The Malaysian Automotive Industry (MAI) will be organizing the MAI Auto Festival 2018!. This Auto Festival will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2018, at SMK Hutan Horizontal, Bagan Datuk, Perak. This is quite a unique event because it is actually held far from any large cities in Peninsular Malaysia! It is at least an hour or so from Ipoh, the capital of the state of Perak and will actually showcase 61 automotive companies that do business here in Malaysia.

National Emission Test Centre (NETC) Officially Opens - The First Full Fledge Vehicle Emissions Test Facility in Malaysia

The National Emission Test Centre (NETC) was officially opened earlier today. This is the first full fledged vehicle emissions testing facility in Malaysia. The RM50 million centre, which is located in Rawang, includes real-time measurement of exhaust emission gases for passenger cars in accordance with UN Regulation 83 and 101 of which Malaysia is one of the first adopters in the South East Asian region. Also, in conjunction with the NETC launch, the launching of the Voluntary EEV Labelling Scheme also took place, followed by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchanges between MAI and the Department of Environment (DOE) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

MALAYSIA CAR OF THE YEAR (COTY) 2017 WINNERS ANNOUNCED - GET TO SEE THEM AT THE UPCOMING MALAYSIA AUTOSHOW 2017 IN MAEPS, THIS 9th TO 12th NOVEMBER

The newly launched (in Malaysia) Honda Jazz Hybrid has been awarded the overall Car of the Year title at this year's Malaysia Car of the Year (COTY) 2017 Awards. Honda and Mercedes-Benz were the big winners as each of them garnered five awards each. Aside from that, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin, Managing Director of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd was named Automotive Man of the Year 2017. This is the prelude to the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2017 which will be held on 9-12 November 2017 in MAEPS, Serdang.

Industry News: Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Greentech Malaysia Signs MoU for Low Carbon Mobility Efforts



Recently, the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Greentech Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) where both parties will work together in order to  work towards having lower carbon mobility in Malaysia. The MoU was entered into during the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 11th of October 2017.

MALAYSIA AUTOMOTIVE INSTITUTE (MAI) Launches its Design Centre - A Product of the Malaysian Government, Perodua & Their Vendors

Today marks another milestone in the Malaysian Automotive Industry. The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), has officially launched the MAI Design Centre in Rawang, Selangor. The centre is a collaboration between MAI, acting on behalf of the Government of Malaysia, and national car maker Perodua which come into this picture together with their vendors.

MALAYSIA AUTOMOTIVE INSTITUTE (MAI) REVS UP PREPARATIONS FOR THE MALAYSIA AUTOSHOW 2017 - Announces Peugeot 208 PureTech for lucky draw and also KL International Automotive Symposium (KLIAS)

I attended a briefing on the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2017 this morning. The event, which is organised by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), the government agency that now charts the Malaysian automotive policies have announced that more than 80% of the exhibition space has been sold and the majority of the mass market brands will be participating . Some of the exhibitors that  have already confirmed their attendance are Proton, Perodua, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Hyundai, KIA, BMW, Volvo, Peugeot, Renault, and Land Rover.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Reaffirms EEV Commitment by Training Bomba on High Voltage Vehicle Emergencies & Signs MoU with Malaysia Automotive Institute for closer working ties

Today, a total of 40 Bomba or Malaysian Fire Department personnel underwent a full day of training which covered both technical and hands-on experience to safely deal with hybrid and electric vehicles in the event of an emergency at the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Training Academy in Puchong, Selangor. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), represented by MAI CEO, Dato’ Madani Sahari.

I attended the International Automotive Aftermarket Conference by MAI and here are my thoughts about that as well as the industry as a whole


I was privileged to attend the second International Automotive Aftermarket Conference organised by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) earlier today. “Spearheading Technology, Enhancing Automotive Aftermarket Industry” This one-day international conference attracted 100 participants, consisting of local and international industry stakeholders, academia, automotive recycling associations, and Government agencies.

The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) launches its Resource (and Training) Centre in Rawang

The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) had launched their Resource Centre (MAIRC) over in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang sometime last week. The centre, which was established in partnership with Perodua, Proton and vendors Suria Component SDN. BHD., SIPRO Plastics SDN. BHD. and PHN Industry SDN. BHD. The launching of MAI Resource Centre was officiated by YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, the Minister of International Trade and Industry, on the 24th of January 2017. MAIRC as the focal point for all MAI capacity building programmes.

Perodua Bezza wins three awards at the Malaysia Car of the Year 2016

The Perodua Bezza compact sedan won three awards at the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) Malaysia Car of the Year 2016 awards recently. It won the Car of the Year 2016 award for the Entry Level category for the Bezza 1.3 Advanced, People’s Choice 2016 for the Bezza 1.3 Advanced and the Most Significant Design Achievement for the Perodua Bezza (overall design).

PROTON wins two awards at the MAI Malaysia Car of the Year 2016


PROTON had received 2 awards at the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) Malaysia Car of the Year 2016 held at The Saujana Hotel, Subang recently for its new and refined Saga and the all-new Persona. The Proton Saga won the Value for Money Car award whilst the Proton Persona won the Most Improved Model in Fuel Efficiency.

It was a whole day thing for me today at the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI). I witnessed the prize giving and conference for the inaugural Formula SEA ASEAN in the morning and then later in the afternoon, I attended the launch of the latest round Automotive Supplier Excellence Programme (ASEP) and Dealers Entrepreneurship Enhancement Programme (DEEP) conducted by MAI featuring PROTON with participation by its chosen vendors and dealers.
