Jaguar F-Pace 2.0L Ingenium SUV is On Sale In Malaysia - Prices Start from RM425,800 Onwards

The Jaguar Land Rover’s F-Pace 2.0L Ingenium SUV has been officially launched in Malaysia after making its local debut at Jaguar's recent Malaysian leg of 'The Art of Performance' South East Asian tour recently. This premium SUV will be available in three variants - the F-Pace Prestige, R-Sport (Mid-Spec) and R-Sport (Hi-Spec). This is Jaguar's first SUV and this version packs a road tax friendly 2.0liter engine. It will be priced from RM425,800 onwards.

The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace 2.0L is powered with Jaguar’s very own new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium powertrain. The 4 cylinder engine has a twin-scroll turbocharger which has various states of tune. The one in the F-Pace 2.0L puts out 250PS and 365Nm of torque from only 1,200rpm.  The 8 speed transmission in the F PACE is developed with ZF to suit the small size of the Ingenium engine. It  features a pendulum type damper in the torque converter that Jaguar claim to be effective at absorbing low frequency vibrations, enabling the engines to run at lower speeds without compromising refinement.

Of course, having tried the F-Pace 2.0L at the above mentioned tour recently, it certainly is smooth, and one might add adequately nippy for a 2.0liter all-wheel drive SUV. Speaking about performance, it will make the 0-100kmh dash in 6.8seconds. When driving a test unit around the Setia City Convention Centre, it also pulled quite strongly in the mid-range and did not feel sluggish at all. It must be the lightweight aluminium chassis allowing decent power to weight ratio in this smaller engined F-Pace. Of course, the powertrain is no slouch as it won Ward’s 2018 10 Best Engines award.

Aside from the usual bits on the drivetrain, Jaguar is keen to highlight the configurable, and adaptive drive system which allows drivers to choose Normal or Sports settings for the throttle response, gearbox and steering. These Adaptive Dynamics modifies the F-Pace’s damper response to match the different conditions and driving style. It also looks at acceleration, cornering, throttle and brake pedal input to optimise the suspension settings and maintain the car’s dynamism and comfort.

As stated above, it may have a small engine, but it is still a modern Jaguar. Jaguar have stated that the F-Pace is also Jaguar’s first aluminium-intensive model in its class and it is developed using Jaguar’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture and as mentioned, lends a hand to the SUV's overall performance by making it have nimble handling and good power to weight ratio.

It features F-Type-inspired styling as well as the wide and strong looking rear haunches, fender vents and distinctive taillight graphics. The bold front mesh grille which is a hallmark in many Jaguar cars and the muscular bonnet hint all add to show a certain level of performance. Aside from that, the designers from Jaguar also added slender full-LED headlights, 20-inch wheels and short front overhang carry which first saw light in Jaguar's C- X17 concept.

Whilst this is the 'entry level' F-Pace (there is the larger engined 3.0liter), it is from Jaguar. With this comes the cachet and the image of what a Jaguar is supposed to be. A symbol of British-ness and all things which is predominantly a Jaguar. Once it was thought to be all leather and wood, it is now a modern performance brand with a luxurious interior and high-tech features for the convenience of the driver and the comfort of its passengers. Jaguar is actually back to the days where they did not make cars based on nostalgia but cars which are on the cutting edge of motoring. They seem to be back on track like the old E-type and S-type cars from the 1960s.

Here are two short videos prepared by Jaguar South East Asia regarding The Art Of Performance Tour in Malaysia (one above, and one below). You can see Yours Truly, the editor & founder of this blog in the videos. The first one above is the official Jaguar SEA marketing bit about The Art of Performance Tour here in Malaysia. I can be seen mentioning something about '...it's all about the ride and handling..' at the 1m13sec to the 1m16sec mark. The second video below is one which they graciously put me in the staring role. Thank you Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia for the opportunity.

The Short test drive write up about the F-Pace 2.0L is in the article about The Art of Performance SEA Tour here.

Jaguar F-Type 2.0L Ingenium brief summary of specs and equipment:

Staying true to its concept from when it was first developed, the F-Pace remains a practical SUV for everyday usability. It seats five with absolute comfort in a spacious, luxurious interior featuring premium materials, craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail that gives every Jaguar its unique sense of occasion. It is also the first among vehicles in its class with the biggest boot volume, widest cabin width, biggest rear knee room and ease of rear access.

The F-Pace has it all; a stylish design, performance and practicality. It is the ideal family car, and is perfect for the outdoorsy solo driver.

What’s exciting about the new F-Pace 2.0L Ingenium is that it also comes with a host of enhancements and new convenient features. Among them include:
 *Surround Camera System
Makes parking by a kerb, tight spaces and junctions convenient as it gives the driver a 360° exterior vision on the touchscreen. Integrated in the system is the Forward Vehicle Guidance and Forward Traffic Detection. The Forward Vehicle Guidance provides the driver with on-screen visualisation of the
vehicle and parking distance, while the Forward Traffic Detection helps avoid potential front collisions in situations with restricted views.
 *Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist
Adaptive Cruise Control uses radar technology to automatically adjust the speed of the car to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. When a vehicle slows down, the F-Pace reduces its speed to maintain a safe distance.

 *12.3 Instrument Panel Display
The display comes with virtual dials and a full screen 3D map views. The driver can select a full screen 3D map view, or choose one of the four graphical themes to suit its personal preference.
*Available only in the R-Sport (Hi-Spec) variant

The F-PACE has been designed and engineered for the most stringent global crash test requirements. Achieving these goals while reducing vehicle weight is a great challenge, but is one Jaguar has been able to resolve.

The 2017 Jaguar F-PACE has been named the winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year and the World Car Design of the Year Awards at the New York International Auto Show. It is also the fastest selling model that Jaguar has ever produced, and is only the second vehicle to claim the historic double in the 13-year history of the World Car Awards. To achieve both wins, the F-PACE had to win the vote of 75 influential motoring journalists from 24 countries.
