Recently, a delegation of leading express bus operators from Malaysia and Singapore were brought over to Germany and Turkiye to gain insights into MAN’s engineering expertise, manufacturing excellence and future mobility technologies. This happened during a specially curated seven-day visit to the German commercial vehicle maker’s facilities in the countries mentioned. The eye opening trip took the operators to MAN headquarters in Munich, its manufacturing facility in Nuremberg as well as its modern and rapidly growing bus and coach production plant in Ankara, Türkiye.
Aside from showing MAN’s latest technologies and production capabilities, the visit offered the Malaysian and Singaporean customers a closer look at the engineering, quality standards and customer-focused approach underpinning the MAN brand, and with some technical presentations, factory tours and direct engagement with senior management and technical experts, the delegation explored the latest safety systems for drivers, passengers and pedestrians, digital connectivity, test drove the latest buses and fleet management solutions, battery-electric bus technologies and emerging mobility concepts.
The experience offered these customers a deeper appreciation of the heritage of the brand and technology and manufacturing processes behind their vehicles and the support available to keep their businesses moving. The trip allowed MAN to showcase their expertise to their customers. The experience is of course, valuable insight to them, showing what makes a MAN vehicle tick and how much design and technical prowess is inside each and every MAN truck and bus.
To us who have been covering commercial vehicles over the years, it seems that MAN seems to be on the upswing vs. the other European manufacturers. Over the past decade or so, MAN has been on a resurgence here in the region. We have been witnessing a push to attract more business and customers since the early 2020s and it does seem that the brand is improving steadily here. The trip is also proof of this effort.
“This visit was a great opportunity not only to show our customers MAN’s production facilities, but also for our Sales and Engineering teams to hear the voice of the customer directly. These fruitful exchanges will help us with our further development in the Asian region,” said Anvar Kasimov, Head of Bus, MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia).
MAN Malaysia Managing Director Marc Appelt said, “We offer premium, technologically advanced bus and coach chassis that combine performance, passenger comfort, fuel efficiency, reliability and sustainability with dependable aftersales support and predictable operating costs. We are pleased to see more Malaysian bus operators recognising the value that MAN brings to their businesses. By giving our customers direct access to our people, facilities and technologies, we want to strengthen their confidence in MAN and demonstrate how we can help simplify their operations over the long term,”
