The Malaysia Autoshow 2018 Is An Upcoming Motorshow That Should Not Be Missed - Scheduled For The 26 - 29 April, 2018

There is a major motorshow which will be held in a few weeks time here in Malaysia folks. This is the fourth edition of the annual Malaysia Autoshow organised by Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and will be held from 26 th to 29 th April, 2018 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). This round of the Malaysia Autoshow continues in the footsteps of the previous Malaysia Autoshow in 2017 which recorded over 250,000 visitors. Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) is confident to attract more visitors to this year’s event, which promises a diverse and immersive automotive experience for all visitors.

Beginning this year, the Malaysia Autoshow organisers had decided that April, instead of the previous dates in November, are suitable to hold the event. The decision to move the Malaysia Autoshow to the first half of year so that there was less overlap between other, more prominent motor shows globally. Major shows, such as the established ones held in Tokyo, Frankfurt and Paris are held in the second half of the year and major manufacturers would be attending those shows rather than have time for a budding new autoshow.

So, the new April dates take the Malaysia Autoshow out of the packed second half calendar scheduling which actually allows the organisers of the Malaysia Autoshow to be able to tell manufacturers that there is now another event earlier in the annual show calendars. It would allow room for the availability of better displays at the show from all over the world, such as concept vehicles and latest technology related to transportation and mobility as the manufacturers do not have clashing autoshows. Of course, this is the first step in the future of the Malaysia Autoshow. Right now, there are still lots of events and displays planned for the Malaysia Autoshow 2018.

Most of the major automotive brands which are in Malaysia will be taking part in this year’s auto show. This year, the theme for the Malaysia Autoshow is ‘360-degree Mobility Experience’. According the the organisers, there should be over 100 cars on displays from concept cars, the latest models as well as classic cars on display. qq

On super unique draw (aside from the lucky draw where the grand prize is the Kia Picanto above) is the return of the German marque, Bogward. This German based international brand currently markets its products in China and is a revival of the Bogward brand which last produced cars way back in 1963. This new Bogward was established in 2008 (with the grandson of the founder at its helm - Christian Borgward) and sales started in China in 2016. Last time they were famous for the Bogward Isabella sedan (those as old as I am may remember seeing Bogwards still on the road in the 1970s - yes, I was around back then. Tiny, but around). These days, they are predominantly a SUV maker and it seems the BX5 (below) and BX7 models will be on display. So yes, Malaysia and the South East Asian region could be the first new market for Bogward after China. So it is big regional news, folks!

Aside from the above, some of the major highlights of Malaysia Autoshow 2018 at the indoor pavilion include:
 A glimpse into the future of mobility where everything is connected at the Intelligent Mobility Experience (IMEX);

 A Kia Picanto for one lucky winner of the Lucky Draw Contest (Note that the draw is eligible to participants with a paid ticket to the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 – Terms & Conditions apply)

 The first appearance in Malaysia by the resuscitated legendary German marque Borgward,
brought to you by GO Exim Sdn Bhd (as stated above);

 The opportunity to own a set of personalised legal tender stamps from POS Malaysia. Just snap a photograph of you and your favourite car with a smartphone and pay RM20 for your very own set of collectible stamps that will be printed on the spot - Quite interesting as you can be immortalised on a stamp;

 Best-ever financing packages by Maybank valid only for cars purchased at the event;

 Holiday packages within ASEAN (Flight and accommodation) for 8 lucky customers who book
and purchase a car at the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 (Terms & Conditions apply);

At the outdoor area, there is also a long list of activities. This is actually quite a draw as even the regional largest regional autoshows like those in Thailand and Indonesia do not have an outdoor activity area - This is why MAEPS is a very good place to hold a motor show. The outdoor events are as follows:

 Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) demonstration in a Perodua;

 Free car inspection;

 Go-kart racing;

 Mitsubishi Obstacle Course;

 Music on Wheels showcase of in-car entertainment systems upgrades;
 Off-road driving experience by 4x4 clubs;

 Toyota 4x4 Experience;

 Lane departure assist and adaptive cruise control demonstration featuring Honda Sensing
technology;

 Test drives of latest models;

 Specialty themed Culture and Cuisine Pavilion; and

 Food trucks.

Maybank is the official financing partner for the Malaysia Autoshow 2018. The leading auto financier will be offering online submissions for hire purchase applications as well as discounts for entry ticket purchases using its QRPay option. According to the Maybank spokesperson, there should be special financing option packages for those who are interested to purchase a car at the autoshow.

At today's press conference, MAI Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Madani Sahari said,“ The venue facilitated longer test drives routes (which are longer than last year) and allowed many exciting outdoor activities to be carried out by the participating brands, especially to demonstrate the various features in their products to visitors. These first-hand experiences for customers certainly contributed to the record-breaking sales, as well as a better outlook of what Malaysia’s automotive industry can offer to consumers today.”

The entrance fee for Malaysia Autoshow 2018 is RM10 per entry. Children below 12 years of age will be given free access, while students will gain free admission on Thursday (26 th March 2018).

However, those who are interested can also enjoy discounted ticket prices by purchasing online So with all of the above in mind, keep your schedule clear for the dates above!
