Volvo Iron Women Programme first round of graduates celebrated - Women drivers and those interested are encouraged to apply



Volvo Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Volvo Trucks), has introduced its Volvo Iron Women initiative to Malaysia. With the support of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry as strategic partner, Volvo Trucks recently celebrated the inaugural graduation of five women as fully certified heavy-duty truck drivers. The women will be employed by Taipanco Sdn Bhd who are also interested in expanding its pool of drivers.

The Volvo Trucks Advanced Driver Development Programme recently certified its first group of 20 graduates from the Bakri Royal Malaysian Police Technical College


Recently, the Volvo Trucks Advanced Driver Development Programme, certified its first group of 20 graduates from the Bakri Royal Malaysian Police Technical College. The programme, which focuses on enhancing driving skills, efficiency and safety, is a joint initiative by Volvo Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Volvo Trucks Malaysia), and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS). The advanced driver programme is one of several initiatives developed under a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) entered into between Volvo Trucks Malaysia and MIROS on August 2023. The goal is to enhance drive road safety initiatives to reduce the number of road accidents, injuries, and fatalities in Malaysia.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia - Spurred onwards by a positive 2022, Volvo Trucks Malaysia seeks more growth via a sustainable future through leading on vehicle safety and EV adoption through collaboration

Yesterday, the 22 March 2023, Volvo Trucks Malaysia (Volvo Trucks) held a small media event where the Managing Director, Anthony O'Connell spoke on the company's 2022 performance and what Volvo Trucks have planned in the near future. For 2022, Volvo Trucks had  registered an 8.5% growth in volume of units delivered to customers. This was spurred by pent-up demand following the post-pandemic period and the Malaysian success echoes the truck manufacturer’s global performance which delivered an all-time high number of its trucks to customers while simultaneously increasing market share in 41 countries.

At MCVE 2022 - Volvo Trucks Malaysia Launches Volvo Connect, a Comprehensive Single Interface System for Volvo Digital Services and Functions


Volvo Trucks Malaysia launched Volvo Connect, a new customer portal that offers a single interface for digital services and functions with a single point of access. This integrates and consolidates connectivity of all truck operations on a single system. The official launch of Volvo Connect was at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MVCE) 2022 (ongoing till tomorrow, 12th March) and was graced and launched by YB Dato Henry Sum Agong, Deputy Minister of Transport during his visit to the Volvo Trucks booth at the exhibition.

Volvo Trucks Launches Truck Donation & Fund-Raising Initiative To Assist Kechara Soup Kitchen in Assisting Underprivileged Communities


The Malaysian arm of one of the world’s largest heavy-duty truck brands, Volvo Trucks Malaysia recently launched Volvo Trucks' latest corporate social responsibility initiative which comprises of the contribution of a heavy-duty Volvo FM 330 4x2 rigid truck complete with customised body frabrication to the Kechara Soup Kitchen Society (KSK). KSK is a registered and quite a well known non‐profit organisation that provides food sustenance and basic medical care for the homeless and poor communities in Malaysia.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia at MCVE 2019 - Launch of Uptime Promise, Active Safety Package & Hosting the MCVE Electromobility Panel Discussion


Volvo Trucks Malaysia has actually launched a service program that ensures their customer's vehicles can be serviced or repaired in under 12 hours or a monetary compensation is given! This is definitely believing in their products.  This was launched at the recently held Malaysian Commercial Vehicle Expo 2019 (MCVE 2019). Aside from the Uptime Promise service package at the expo, the Swedish manufacturer also launched their new Active Safety Package and hosted the MCVE Electromobility Panel discussion on how electrified vehicles will shape the future of Malaysian transportation.

Happenings: Volvo Trucks Malaysia Donates RM10,650 to MERCY Malaysia to Help Rebuild Palu


The 28th of September 2018 was a sad and unforgettable day for the residents of the City of Palu, Indonesia. The city on the island of Sulawesi was hit by a 5-metre-high tsunami shortly after a magnitude 7.5 earthquake occurred 80 km north of the city. The earthquake killed 2,256 people, with over 1,549 injured. It was a tragedy which affected Palu and four other inhabited places. In an effort to aid the victims of the aftermath of the disaster, Volvo Trucks Malaysia has donated RM 10,650 to Mercy Malaysia, a humanitarian aid organisation that is dedicated to helping those in need of support in Palu.

Trucks: Konsortium PD Sdn Bhd Adds 17 New Volvo Trucks to Their Fleet With Another 11 More Coming in 2019


Volvo Trucks Malaysia recently handed over 17 new Volvo trucks of various models to Konsortium PD Sdn Bhd. The handover was held at their Konsortium PD's headquarters in Lukut, Port Dickson. Of the seventeen trucks, two of them were the Volvo FH440, seven were Volvo FM370 and eight were Volvo FM440. Both the senior management of Volvo Trucks Malaysia and Konsortium PD were present at the small ceremony.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia have introduced new service offerings to assist their customers maximise the uptime of their Volvo trucks. These include an extended 24-month Fitted Parts Warranty for all Volvo parts purchased and fitted by authorised Volvo Trucks dealers in Malaysia, the implementation of the new Fast Track Service and the extension of the workshop hours of their flagship branch in Port Klang beginning November 2018.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia has a new Managing Director with effect from 1st August 2018. Mitch Peden will replace outgoing MD, Mats Nilsson, who has helmed Volvo Trucks Malaysia for the past 5 years. Mitch comes from Australia and has been with Volvo Trucks since 2005.

Volvo Trucks’ Fuelwatch Challenge is back again folks! 2018 continues Volvo's ougoing effort in promoting maximum fuel efficiency and proper driving skills among truck drivers here in Malaysian and worldwide. For the Malaysian leg, the competition is open to drivers across Malaysia this time around with two separate categories, the closed category and the open category. It looks like its something different this year by the looks of it!

First launched in 1998, the Volvo FH truck was designed with the driver in mind and it had a lot of revolutionary features. Now a good 25 years after it was first launched, it still a leader in terms of driver safety, care and also many other groundbreaking trucking solutions in productivity as well as in environmental care. Volvo Trucks called it The Truck of the Future then and 25 years later, it still brings a lot of innovation to the table.

Trucks: The Volvo FL Electric Has Been Launched - Volvo Trucks First All-Electric Truck For Commercial Use


Volvo Trucks have introduced the Volvo FL Electric for sale over in Europe. This is the truck manufacturer's first all-electric truck for commercial use and could be the first manufacturer offering a zero emissions commercial vehicle that can easily be bought and run. The FL Electric is based on the Volvo FL series of trucks and its main applications in urban distribution as well as refuse operations. The FL Electric which will start sales and series production in Europe next year and Volvo Trucks will be at the forefront in coming up with solutions for electrified goods transport in cities with this offering.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia's partnership with KidZania Kuala Lumpur has started bringing road safety education to various schools throughout Malaysia. The joint venture CSR activity which will carry on into 2018 intends to target a whole lot of schools and as many as 21,000 school-going children, is in line with Volvo Truck's global campaign of 'Stop. Look, Wave'.

Truck News: VISTA 2017 -18 - The Global Competition For Technicians of Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses Is Now Open For Registration

The registration for the world´s largest (after sales) service market competition, VISTA* is now open. The VISTA 2017 - 18 is expected to receive participation from over 18,000 technicians, from Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses global dealer network.  One key purpose of VISTA is that it aims to attract and maintain skilled technicians through teamwork and competence development. Competing against each other and a chance to further oneself as well as the chance to compete against others at a world finals would be a very good way on how technicians can gauge their accomplishments.

Truck News & Happenings: Prifaria Sdn Bhd Driver Kaspul Anwar Wins the Volvo Trucks Malaysia Fuelwatch Challenge 2017 - 3rd Time In a Row for Prifaria!!!


Kaspul Anwar bin Abdul Karim who drives for Prifaria Sdn Bhd has been crowned the champion in this year's Malaysian leg of the Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Challenge 2017. He will be headed to Sweden for the World Finals and will be going against the best from all over the world in one, if not the most popular annual truck drivers competition throughout the world. Second place went to En Firdaus bin Salim from Swift Logistics Sdn Bhd and third place, to En Ahmad Sulaiman from Konsortium PD.

Truck News: Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Challenge 2017 Malaysia - FIRST Ever Female Truck Driver Qualifies For The Finals!

 This is the eight year that the Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Challenge has been organised here in Malaysia and this time, for the first time ever, a female truck driver has made it to the finals! Junaidah Bte Ibrahim, who is 32 years of age has qualified for the Malaysian finals which is to be held on 25th and 26th August 2017 in Shah Alam. She will compete against seven other finalists where the winner will get a chance to compete in the world finals in Sweden from 18th to 22nd September 2017

Truck News: Volvo Trucks Malaysia Annual Fuelwatch Challenge is Back for the 8th time - Drivers, get ready for more efficient driving!



It's that time of the year again where I type out the words..."it's that time of the year again" or something along those lines as Volvo Trucks Malaysia returns with another installment of their annual Fuelwatch Challenge, Malaysian edition. This time, seven Malaysian truck drivers will get a chance to compete in the Volvo Fuelwatch Challenge Malaysia finals, where the winner will then get a chance to participate in the Drivers Fuel Challenge - World Final in Sweden later in the year.

Truck News: Volvo Trucks Shows Off its Prototype Self-steering VM Series Truck Which is Set to Increase Brazil’s Sugar-cane Harvest




Volvo Trucks have recently announced that they are in the midst of testing their newest Self-steering Truck systems. According to Volvo, the truck and its autonomous steering system can become a significant productivity booster for Brazilian sugar-cane growers. The truck, which travels alongside a harvester machine is used to transport newly harvested sugar-cane from the field. With the automated systems on, it can be as close as automatically possible in steering itself with great precision through the fields in order to avoid damaging the young plants that will form the following year’s crop.
