Contest: You Are Invited To Vote The Name Of PROTON's First SUV & Win Prizes Worth Over RM100,000!

PROTON had launched an online poll recently where all Malaysians are invited to vote for the name of its first SUV. You know, the Geely Boyue based SUV that is scheduled to be launched at the end of this year. The online poll will run for one month on the official PROTON Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ProtonCarsOfficial) and is open to all Malaysians with no strings attached. You don't have to buy a car or anything from them to participate!

According to  PROTON VP of Sales and Marketing, Abdul Rashid Musa, this is a significant milestone for PROTON as the new SUV also represents a symbol of Malaysian achievement. PROTON select five lucky poll respondents as winners to receive the grand prizes with other chosen participants sharing RM100,000 worth of gift vouchers.

The five main winners will be chosen based on the best reasons given for the name they have voted. Their prize package will consist of a once in a lifetime experience consisting of exclusive VIP invites to the launch as well as the honour of being among the first people to test drive and experience the SUV at PROTON’s test track in Shah Alam.

There is also the option of proposing an alternative name for the SUV, which I would actually suggest as it seems PROTON wants to use a simpler code named style instead of naming it after something - eg. PROTON 'X7'. Just don't suggest 'Proton Crispy Rendang' or something like that. That would never, ever win this contest. It would be like that UK Polar Research Ship which went through polling and somehow 'Boaty McBoatface' won. They called it RRS Sir David Attenborough after the famous naturalist and broadcaster.

The interesting thing about this is that should the alternative name be picked, one lucky winner will be rewarded with a 4D/3N tour package to Hangzhou and Shanghai for two inclusive of a visit to the headquarters of Geely. Yup, it's the Geely connection here folks, you get to go to China.

Now a bit about the upcoming Geely Boyue based SUV. This is the first model to be jointly developed with Geely. It will be the first premium C-segment SUV produced by a Malaysian manufacturer (yes they are) and  it will be equipped with active and passive safety features usually found on more expensive vehicles. It is also the first of many products that will be the basis of PROTON turnaround in the next few years.

The dateline for the survey is 30th April 2018 at 11.59pm and winners will be announced closer to the launch date of the SUV.
