Trucks: TATA with DRB-HICOM Launches the TATA Super Ace One Ton Mini-Truck in Malaysia

TATA Motors launched the Tata Super Ace 1 ton mini truck yesterday at the Setia City Convention Centre at an event that is deemed to mark an even greater working relationship between Tata Motors and DRB-Hicom, its authorised distributor in Malaysia. The Tata Super Ace will be marketed and sold by DRB-HICOM Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd and will cost RM46,990 onwards making it one of the most affordable and robust mini trucks in the market.

TATA has a new 3S Centre in Bidor, Perak. This new sales, after sales, spares and service centre is operated by the recently appointed dealer RS Super Truck & Bus Sdn Bhd. With this new 3S centre, DRB-HICOM Vehicles Sdn Bhd who are authorised distributors of TATA vehicles here have another touchpoint to service its customer base here in Peninsular Malaysia.

Updates on the Proton-Geely Deal - Proton WIll Be Getting a New CEO Soon

DRB-HICOM, who currently own and manage Proton has announced the departure of Proton Holdings Bhd CEO Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali effective 30 September 2017. Fuaad was appointed as CEO of PHB on 1 April 2016, after assuming the position of Chief Operating Officer/Senior Group Director of DRB-HICOM in 2013. This is following the announcement of Proton's search for a foreign strategic partner, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

MOTORCYCLES: MODENAS' Revival Begins With The Launch of The Kriss MR2 & Also Plans for Strategic Partner Tie-Up

National motorcycle manufacturer Motosikal Dan Enjin Nasional (MODENAS), part of the DRB-HICOM group had launched the latest Modenas Kriss underbone (moped) motorcycle. The Kriss has been their most popular model over the years and they hope that with the introduction of the new MR2 model to the popular KRISS line-up, it will improve its current market share of the entry level underbone motorcycle segment from 8% to 10% by the end of 2017.

PROTON's Foreign Strategic Partner decision to be made by the first half of 2017

DRB-HICOM Berhad have confirmed again that will only conclude and announce their decision within the first half of this year. There have been tons of speculation on the matter and I had mentioned earlier that all of this is mere talk and even any 'expert' opinion will just be an opinion until the actual decision is released to the public.

Earlier today, DRB-HICOM and PROTON Holdings Bhd had presented a total of eight cars to the nation's Olympians who had succeeded in winning the medals at the recent Rio Olympic Games. Proton hopes that with the record achievement (our best performance at the Olympics to date) at the recent Rio 2016 Olympic Games, more talented Malaysians will be inspired to achieve greater heights and make our country proud.
