According to UD Trucks, these newly purchased UD Quester trucks comprised of seven units of 18-tonne trucks and two units of 24-tonne trucks, all with a TNB specific configuration.

All of the trucks are equipped with diesel powered generator sets and used by TNB as mobile generator sets to support the national electricity needs in case of any breakdown, standby and planned shutdown. All the trucks will be allocated at TNB’s Fleet Management Department branches across Peninsula Malaysia.

Mohammad Anas Ibrahim, General Manager, Core Operation & Shared Services, Fleet Management Department, Tenaga Nasional Berhad who represented Datuk S. It is via this reliable system that TNB supplies electricity to Malaysians consistently and continuously, as well as ensuring there is always a balance between demand and supply. If any case of electricity breakdown happens, it needs to be resolved quickly by having mobile generator sets as immediate backup.”

“Apart from robust and versatile trucks, we also need fast service maintenance support. TCIE’s aftersales service department has been very attentive and they have always provided fast response to any of our enquiries. As such, we believe that UD Trucks and TCIE are strong partners who will take good care of TNB’s needs, allowing us to concentrate on our core operations with peace of mind.” added Mohammad Anas.

Aside fromt the above, Mohammad Anas also mentioned that TNB Fleet Management Department bought its first UD truck in 2006 and actually has plans to purchase more light and medium-duty trucks this year to replace other older and ageing trucks in its fleet, with the objective to increase operational efficiency. TNB needs to have a reliable fleet to serve its customers. You readers out there do know that everytime there is a blackout, most Malaysians will be up in arms. This is a serious thing and TNB buying new trucks for mobile power generation is a good thing.
