The Volvo EX30 is Now Available in 2 Plus and 1Twin Engine Ultra variant from RM188,888 onwards - Test Drive the compact EV SUV at KL Base from tomorrow until 29 September 2024

The Volvo EX30 has been launched for the Malaysian market. This is Volvo’s newest electric car and is a compact B segment luxury fully electric SUV. The EX30 is big on technology and safety and is the latest embodiment of Volvo’s vision to give people the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way, with three variants starting at RM188,888 onwards and a range topping twin motor, very fast accelerating variants, it covers what most well heeled urban dwellers would want in a compact roundabout.

On 21st May 2024, Volvo Buses, part of the Volvo Group (“Volvo”) together with Gemilang International Ltd (“Gemilang”), one of Malaysia’s manufacturers of bodywork for buses and coaches, jointly launched the all-new, flagship Volvo BZL-GML Eco Range, offering Volvo’s first and locally-built electric low-floor, two-door, premium class, city bus in Malaysia.  A signing ceremony with Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (“Rapid Bus”) was held to confirm the Implementation of a trial operation involving the Volvo BZL-GML Eco Range for Rapid KL bus service.

Volvo Car Malaysia has revealed an upgraded 2024 C40 Recharge Pure Electric. The SUV is Volvo’s first crossover SUV offered as an electric-only model and for this year's model, it will have a range of  up to 550km*- as per  the controlled Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (“WLTP”) for full electric vehicles* and it will also have faster DC charging for a larger battery pack (which explains the range), and pixel headlight technology. More whales and trees could be saved with this new extended range C40.

According to Volvo Cars, thousands of containers of production material for Volvo Cars factories are carried across the world’s oceans on container ships. Like most manufacturers do as it is the cheapest way of getting bulk items from one end to another. However, from now, the container ships used by Volvo Cars are made with renewable fuel instead of traditional fossil fuel. Volvo Cars  are the first to announce such a move. The Swedish company will achieve an immediate reduction in fossil CO2 emissions from intercontinental ocean freight by an estimated 55,000 tonnes over a year. Thus, technically saving many manatees, dolphins and polar bears in a single swoop.

These are the first electric heavy duty prime mover series of trucks to be launched in Southeast Asia and also the first to be adopted by an operator in the region where integrated logistics provider, Swift Haulage Berhad had purchased two units of the model. Recently, the Volvo XC90 SUV has earned a 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The announcement comes after the IIHS strengthened the requirements for its TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) and TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) awards.  The new, tougher, criteria demand better side crash protection, improved pedestrian crash prevention systems, and the elimination of subpar headlights from the field of qualifying vehicles and the XC90 midsized SUV was deemed to be one of the safest in its category for all those mentioned above.

A Ride and Drive as well as a Handover Event with the first ever Volvo B11RLE low entry double deck coach in Malaysia

 

Volvo Buses showcased the first ever fully built Volvo B11RLE 6x2 double deck coach for the Malaysian market and had inviting customers to experience first-hand a Ride and Drive event earlier today. This comes after introducing the Volvo B11RLE 6x2 chassis here recently. YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Transport Minister of Malaysia, and His Excellency Dr. Joachim Bergstrom, Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia, graced the event held at the Volvo Group Malaysia Shah Alam office.

This event marked the first time a fully built Volvo B11R Low Entry 6x2 double deck coach is showcased and operated on road in the market since the chassis’ introduction in 2022. The event was jointly organized by Volvo Buses and its partner Truckquip Sdn. Bhd. (TQ), which is Volvo’s fully authorized chassis assembly factory in Malaysia. The buses were also officially handed over to the operators, Sani Express Sdn Bhd (Sani).

Volvo Car Malaysia has expanded its electric vehicle range with the launch of the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric here earlier today. The Malaysian arm of Volvo Car unveiled the first electric-only SUV  and second Recharge Pure Electric vehicle of the brand, the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric. The other important point of note is the fact that the C40 is local assembled and confirms company’s commitment of going 75% of the sale of its models to be electrified globally as well as to the Malaysian market.

Volvo Car Malaysia to Introduce a New Recharge Plug-In Powertrains in its 90 and 60 Series Along with a New Price Point for All its Vehicles

Volvo Car Malaysia recently announced that they are introducing an improved Recharge plug-in hybrid powertrain in all of its Recharge T8 models and that prices for all Volvo vehicles will be adjusted from 1 May 2022 onwards.

This new powertrain provides more electric range, enabling drivers to drive further on pure electric mode. Basically larger batteries for more range and a higher performance electric motor for more performance for all models notably. 

Sisma Auto Opens Its Premium Multi Brand 3S Centre in Glenmarie Shah Alam

The SISMA Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam has been transformed to a new multi brand 3S centre for the automotive brands carried by the company. SISMA Auto recently announced the opening of SISMA Auto Hub, its new premium multi-brand 3S centre for customers to buy, sell or service any brand of luxury car, at what was previously the Jaguar Land Rover 3S centre at Glenmarie, Shah Alam.You basically can buy new and used Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo cars as well as other premium (mostly certified used ones) makes which they will be selling here as well as get them serviced too. Volvo Buses Delivers 90 Units of the Volvo B8L Buses - The first ever Euro 6 Double Decker Buses in Malaysia

On the 6th of December 2021, Volvo Buses announced the successful delivery of 90 units of the first ever Euro 6 double decker type buses to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), and the momentous occasion was marked by an official vehicle handover ceremony. This is quite special as this event actually marked the first time Euro 6 specification buses are officially in use in Malaysia.

Today, the 12th of April 2021, I was invited to witness  the official launch of Sime Darby Motors' automotive facility, Sime Darby Motors City. While operating for quite a while already in the township of Ara Damansara in Petaling Jaya, it was only officially launched today due to the many pandemic lockdown issues the country is facing. So after an actual postponement of an earlier scheduled official opening, Sime Darby officially launched the automotive complex today. The complex houses six flagship centres featuring many brands represented by Sime Darby Motors in Malaysia, namely BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, MINI, Motorrad, Porsche and Volvo. The automotive centre aims to be an exemplary hub for everything automotive for automotive sales industry.
