BMW Group Malaysia and Dealer Tian Siang Premium Auto Unveil i Charging Stations in Ipoh, Perak

BMW Group Malaysia and their dealers in Ipoh, Tian Siang Premium Auto, recently unveiled three new BMW i Charging Stations at the WEIL Hotel in Ipoh, Perak. This makes ownership of a BMW plug-in hybrid car a little better if you live in Ipoh or are visiting the capital city of the state of Perak. It also further demonstrates BMW's commitment towards their Future Mobility ideals here in Malaysia.

BMW iPerformance (or plug-in hybrid) vehicles are also supported by the ChargEV platform through its partnership with the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation, a government linked company with the aim to further push sustainable technology here in Malaysia. The BMW ChargeNow service, which is offered as part of the BMW 360° ELECTRIC programme, also grants easy access (once you register - which is also easy to do) to partner charging stations like ChargEV, where customers can enjoy 24/7 support and access to all charging locations in ChargEV’s growing network which now offers more than 270 charging facilities nationwide.

The three new BMW i Charging Stations in Ipoh follows the recent introduction of  BMW i Charging Stations at the Holiday Inn Melaka and The Equatorial Melaka by Seong Hoe Premium Motors, and at CityONE Megamall Kuching by Regas Premium Auto Sarawak in the states of Melaka and Sarawak respectively. These BMW i Charging stations add to the network of available chargers for plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles nationwide.

Mr. Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The introduction of these new BMW i Charging Stations for the first time here in Perak further demonstrates our ongoing commitment to drive Future Mobility in the country. Having charted an all-time high deliveries for our BMW iPerformance range of vehicles last year, and with Malaysia being the fifth largest market for BMW Hybrid with eDrive technology vehicles, we are pleased to be taking the lead in electro-mobility and future mobility in the country. In part, it is also important to continuously expand accessibility of charging stations to our customers, particularly through our network of authorised dealerships.”

In terms of the sales of BMW vehicles in the state of Perak, Mr. Tan Ka Kin, Dealer Principal of Tian Siang Premium Auto added that 2017 was also a successful year for the premium dealership. The dealership delivered over 400 BMW vehicles in the State of Perak last year with more than 45% of these vehicles comprised of BMW iPerformance vehicles and it is predicted that this number will continue to grow steadily with the introduction of BMW Group's EEV approved cars that make up the majority of their models. Mr Tan also mentioned that it is natural that BMW Group Malaysia further develop the charging infrastructure together with their premium partners here in Perak.

Of course, there is another party to the introduction of the new charging stations, which is the location of the charging station itself, WEIL Hotel. Mr. Liew Yu-Wei, Executive Director of WEIL Hotel Ipoh said, “At WEIL, we are dedicated to satisfying our customers through authentic best-in-class hospitality, a belief similar to that of Tian Siang Premium Auto. With our strategic location as a transit hub for many local and international tourists, business travellers and families, we believe that the addition of BMW i Charging Stations will further provide our guests with a truly connected lifestyle.”

These days the quiet capital of Perak is drawing more and more people to it. There are a lot more hipster cafes, coffee and tea houses where a lot of people now end up. A far cry from what Ipoh was a decade or so ago. How times have changed. Ipoh now has BMW i Charging stations!
