PROTON Keeps On Climbing - Second in Terms of Total Vehicle Sales, July 2019....Honda Definitely Affected by the Lack of Totally New Models!

PROTON Cars is now second behind Perodua in terms of July 2019 sales figures. This means that Honda and Toyota are third and fourth respectively and it is after 40 months (or March 2016), that PROTON has returned to second in total sales for Malaysia’s automotive market. The brand sold 8,590 vehicles in July which is a 16.5% market share which was estimated at 51,960 units in total.

New Toyota 2S Aftersales Service Centre Opens in Bukit Tinggi, Klang

A new Toyota 2S aftersales centre located at Klang, Selangor had opened recently. The new centre is operated by Toyota Dealer, PS Otomobil (Bukit Tinggi) Sdn Bhd, and it offers aftersales services to Toyota customers and owners in Pandamaran, Bukit Tinggi, Bandar Botanik, and other nearby areas.

Volvo Trucks Upgrades The D13 (Euro 3,4,5 & EEV rated) Engines - Up to 3% Better Fuel Consumption Stated

Not resting on their laurels (50 Years in Malaysia yo!), Volvo Trucks have announced that they are introducing new truck software functions and upgraded engines to help logistics companies and their drivers save even more fuel. According to this bit of news we heard, the upgraded Volvo D13 series of turbodiesel engines in Euro 3, Euro 4,  Euro 5 and Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) markets will be able gain up to 3% worth of fuel savings even if the drivers aren't utilising cruise control. 

UD Trucks & TCIE Deliver 6 More UD Croner Medium Duty Trucks to Tenaga Nasional Berhad

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia's electricity supplier, has purchased more UD Trucks for their fleet. This time, six units of the UD Croner medium duty truck has been bought where they would be used to transport diesel fuel to refuel TNB's mobile generator sets during site operations. TNB now operates a total of 78 UD trucks in their fleet.

New 'Renault Subscription' Plans for Renault Koleos and Captur Vehicle Financing

Renault is now offering something called the ‘Renault Subscription’ vehicle financing packages for their customers here in Malaysia. Touted as offering freedom and flexibility, the ‘Renault Subscription’ allows customers flexible payment schemes for their new Renault, where they can break away from long-term loan tenures, rigid lock-ins as well as having less concerns about vehicle depreciation costs. So I recently got to try out the All-New 2019 4th generation Hyundai Santa Fe recently. The try out happened during the recent media drive of the 7 seater SUV which took a bunch of media type folks from Batu 3 in Shah Alam and into the Malaysian countryside where we did a spot of off-roading in both the 2.4liter Petrol and 2.2liter CDRi turbodiesel variants. The Santa Fe performed quite admirably for what is essentially a 'soft-roader' as I would call it. Do note that this time I only drove both the 2.4 Petrol and the 2.2 Diesel Executive variants and not the more Premium variants. The time factor was also in play here as it was quite a short trip to Negeri Sembilan and back this time.

The 8th Generation Porsche 911 (Type 992) Has Been Launched - Carrera S & Carrera 4S Variants Now Available for Order

Analysis - PROTON Cars Seem to Be Back On Track - June 2019 is the Second Highest Sales Numbers for the Company

The facts - Solid Sales Performance by Proton. The company sold 7,615 units June 2019. 18.1% Total Industry Volume market share from a market that had SHRUNK by 30.8% to 42,090 units (for June). But this drop is common after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive holidays. But still impressive.

Perodua Starts Selling Cars in the Seychelles - Their Latest Export Market

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa, and it is Perodua's newest overseas market. The compact car company has launched their smallest car, the Perodua Axia there, which is quite a popular tourist destination. The Axia will be offered in  E MT, G AT, SE and AV variants at promotional prices of 235,000 (*RM71,500), 265,000 (*RM80,600), 275,000 (*RM83,700) and 290,000 (*RM88,300) Seychellois Rupees respectively.

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) is a successful Malaysian incorporated joint-venture company between UMW Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). Today, the company and their stakeholders celebrated 50 years of local production in Malaysia with a special ceremony held at the company's newest manufacturing facility in Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor. The historic event was graced by His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah AlHaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, The Sultan of Selangor and Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.  

MCVE 2019: MAN Malaysia Unveils a MAN XLION Special Model - Aimed at Simplifying Business with Special Equipment & Comprehensive Aftersales Packages

MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN) had presented their MAN XLION special model at the recently concluded Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2019. This new MAN truck model with its tailor made equipment and aftersales package is in line with their motto of ‘Simplifying Business’. The MAN TGS 33.480 in the XLION package was displayed. It is a 6x4 prime mover, with its XLION lion design on the sides of the truck.
