Today, Volvo Car Malaysia has officially launched the 2027 model year Volvo EX90 here at Bamboo Hills, Kuala Lumpur. This is the latest EX90, which is Volvo's flagship SUV model and as it has been since a very long time, assembled locally in Shah Alam, Selangor. The EX90 has, in Volvo's words evolved with the 800-volt architecture (first introduced end of last year globally) and an updated NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computing with Superset tech stack built on top for ultra-fast delivery of over-the-air software updates.
The 2027 EX90 is available for viewing at all authorised dealers nationwide and is priced from RM428,888 without insurance. Volvo Car Malaysia has early bird offer for the firsr 100 units booked. There is a RM25,000 in cash rebate and a Volvo Wallbox worth RM3,990, exclusively to the first 100 units.
We get a top specced performance variant here. Only one variant, which features the upgraded 800-volt electric system. The powertrain is a Twin Motor All-wheel-Drive powertrain, which gives 680 hp and 870 Nm of torque,allowing a 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.2 seconds (and a top speed limited to 180km/h).
The upgraded 800V architecture not only reduces overall weight and heat generation during charging but also improves sustainability through a lower copper dependency while delivering more power for faster acceleration. Powered by a 106-kWh battery, the evolved EX90 offers up to 617km of electric driving range in a single charge. Yes, while other countries offer the more range, but less rapid single motor EX90, we get the performance variant. When asked, it would actually depend on whether customers ask more of it. MY27 Updates for the ES90 sedan also
In addition to the launch of the evolved EX90, Volvo's fully electric saloon launched earlier this
year, the ES90, is also getting an update. For model year 2027, the Volvo ES90 introduces two exterior colour offerings in Mulberry and Aurora Silver, an additional premium Cardamom interior room, 21inch rim wheels featuring a new Glossy-Silver option, and wireless Android Auto TM compatibility. Early bookings are entitled to cash rebates up to RM17,600 5 and can be made as early as September 2026.
