CAM Kingo Van Launched in Malaysia - 4 Variants to Choose From RM99K Onwards

I believe in the past five years or so, commercial vehicles from China have been making inroads here in Malaysia, especially in the light commercial vehicle segment, particularly when it comes to vans. Recently, R&A Marketing Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Sendok Group), the sole distributor of King Long Minivan in Malaysia has launched the new CAM Kingo series, a new van series under the King Long brand name.

The 2019 CAM Kingo range here is available in 4 different variants, - the CAM Kingo Ute Window  15 seater basic spec,  the Kingo 15 seater comfort spec, the Kingo Plus18 seater comfort spec; and lastly, the Kingo Ute Panel, which is a high roof panel van with 9.2m3 and could be the biggest panel van in its class. The addition of CAM Kingo series complements the current CAM / King Long van range and fills up some niches in the van segment.

The launch of the new Kingo van was held at The Square, Publika, Kuala Lumpur on the 19th July 2019. Aside from that, Sendok Group also celebrated the commemoration of 10 years cooperation with Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. Sendok Group has had dealings with the folks at King Long since 2010 and the launch of the Kingo was something special to the parties.

As for details of the CAM Kingo, the van is powered by a 3.0L Common Rail Turbo Intercooler Euro 3 diesel engine which makes 110kW/3400rpm and max torque of 370Nm/ 2000rpm. It is equipped with LED daytime running lights (DRL), halogen projection headlamp, chrome honeycomb grill, sporty 16” alloy rim, double rear cooling coil unit with 9 air vents, semi fabric seats and dual sliding door. It also comes with ABS+EBD braking systems and a reverse camera with sensor.

Deemed as an affordable and comfortable people carrier, the CAM Kingo series is also applicable for courier service & logistic, factory bus/ school bus, semi-panel van, ambulance, utility van and even as a hearse. The new CAM Kingo series is targeted towards new business owners and companies who wish to increase or upgrade their fleets.

CAM Kingo series sold here comes with 5 years or 150,000km warranty (applicable for private & commercial registration) whichever comes first.  It is also supported by a 24/7 hotline service, CAM nationwide 65 service dealers and free nationwide towing service within the warranty period.  The CAM KINGO Series is priced from RM99K (without insurance). As part of launching promotion, free dash cam or exclusive CAM carpet will be given out upon purchase of the new CAM Kingo series.

These days, it is common to see a made in China van plying the streets of cities and towns in Malaysia. There is definitely market acceptance of these vehicles nowadays. Price has something to do with it as the do undercut the usual Japanese (and Korean - used be be from Kia, which seems to have been missing from the scene these days) offerings in terms of pricing. Aside from competitive pricing, the Sendok Group has set up a nationwide service network to cater to the brand.

In fact, Sendok Group is doing more than that. They have set up a new manufacturing plant which is located in Klang. The group’s turnover under the new commercial vehicle segment has grown to RM300 million last year during the past 10 years and because of this they are building a new manufacturing plant totaling 400,000 square feet or 10 acres in size. Located in Klang, the new facility is targeted to be ready in year 2020.. A total investment of RM50 Million was made which shows the seriousness of the group in making the brand a success.

During the launch, Mr. Gwee Bok Wee, Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Sendok Group said, “In conjunction with the revised New Automotive Policy (NAP), Sendok Group plans to bring in Green Vehicles in expanding its vehicle range. The CAM Kingo series will expand to include the Electric Vehicle, whereby King Long, in China readily have the technology and technical know-how of the products.”

“In conjunction with the Industry 4.0 application, the new manufacturing plant shall also adopt more automation and digitalization. With this new production capacity, Sendok Group targets to be able to cater to the bigger demand of South East Asia market and to capitalize on the ASEAN Free Trade Area, and move towards the international market.” added Mr. Gwee Bok Wee.
