The Toyota Yaris Cross SUV finally makes it to Malaysia - 1.5l and 1.5l hybrid variants from a competitive RM99,900 onwards

Finally, the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross B segment SUV gets launched in Malaysia. This has been loooong awaited and we finally get this new Toyota compact SUV here.  I managed to attend UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd's (UMWT) launch of the all-new 2026 Toyota Yaris Cross, which is available in both 1,5liter Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and 1.5liter Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) variants. The model is offered from RM99,900.00 for the 1.5S ICE variant and RM109,900.00 for the 1.5S HEV variant.

All-New Audi Q5 Launches in Malaysia -Two 2.0 TFSI variants from RM352,990 onwards

PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM), the folks who are the official distributors of Audi here have announced the launch of the all-new Audi Q5 Advanced (in Red above and herein) and Audi Q5 Sportback S line (in green above and herein). This is the third-generation Audi Q5 (GU series) and made its debut in November 2024 for the 2025 model year. Malaysia gets the = Audi Q5 Sportback S line and more entry equipped Audi Q5 Advanced variants for the recommended retail price of RM352,990 for the Q5 Advanced, and RM421,990 for the Q5 Sportback S line.

MG Motor Malaysia celebrates 2 years in Malaysia - Expect more from the marque and a slightly improved CKD MGS5 EV SUV this year onwards

As part of its 2nd Anniversary: Passion To Drive event was held at Bamboo Hills in Kuala Lumpur. This was a small gathering for members of the media where , MG Motor Malaysia celebrated a strong start to 2026, mentioned key product milestones, growing customer engagement, and continued expansion plans as the brand strengthens its presence in the Malaysian market. While they have been somewhat quiet in terms of news releases over the past couple of months, this highlighted what they have been doing, mentioning future plans as well as announcing some changes to the latest, 2026 MG S5 EV in its locally assembled, CKD form.

Upcoming JAECOO J5 launch RM8,888 early bird package as well as early bird booking package for the also upcoming OMODA C9 PHEV

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia are pushing towards the launch of the Jaecoo J5 compact SUV. This B segment sized SUV is scheduled to be launched by early March 2026 here in Malaysia and the brand has announced that the estimated price of the J5 to be around RM110,000.00. This is RM10,000 less than they announced previously. They have also announced an early bird package for the J5 as well as an early bird booking package for the upcoming Omoda C9 PHEV (plug in hybrid - estimated to come in at around RM220K).

Volvo Car Malaysia Launches the Locally Assembled ES90 - Single variant priced at RM339,888 before insurance

Earlier today, at the Bamboo Hills, Kuala lumpur, Volvo Car Malaysia held the official launch of the Volvo ES90. This is Volvo’s first fully electric sedan and it is assembled locally in Shah Alamm Selangor and is packed with innovative features as well as a very, very decent 651km range (WLTP rating). There will be one variant initially and will priced at RM339,888 before any insurance. However, there is an early bird 2% rebate for the first 100 bookings made until 31st of March 2026. It is now available for viewing at all authorised Volvo Car dealerships in Malaysia

On Friday, the 9th of January, JETOUR Malaysia announced that the soon to be launched JETOUR T2 has achieved a 5-star rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme (ASEAN NCAP) under the 2021–2025 assessment protocol, with an overall score of 86.50 points. The 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating is much welcomed as the JETOUR T2 prepares to make its Malaysian entrance in the 1st quarter of 2026. SO this is 'easy mode; GR. Well, not really. This is not to say that only 'real men' drive manual transmissions, but in this day and age, especially in traffic jam packed regions like the Klang Valley and the fact that car ownership may only mean one nice car at a time, an automatic performance hatchback actually makes sense. This is age catching up with the writer of this blog, an decades of driving in traffic has mellowed him. I do like options given to customers, especially if it makes like easier for most people.

TQ WULING has launchedt he Wuling Bingo EV. This new battery electric EV is available in two variants, offering a driving range of up to 410 km (CLTC) on a single charge which is for the top variant (WLTP should be about 23% less give or take which is still a reasonable range). With the launch, this is currently the most affordable B segment EV around, as with the early bird rebates, are even cheaper than a Proton eMAS 5.
