Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Latest Passenger Car Prices Effective June 2020 to 31 December 2020


Here is Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's update on passenger car prices following the announcement of the Malaysian government's new economic stimulus plan to stimulate the economy amidst the COVID-19 crisis. The initiative to assist the automotive industry includes 100% sales tax exemption for locally-assembled vehicles and a 50% reduction for fully-imported models from 15 th June 2020 until the end of the tax free incentive period. Since Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has a large local assembly catalouge as well as an equally large fully imported line-up here as well as loyal customers, many would like know how much would a new Mercedes-Benz cost.

PROTON Announces Price Reduction of 1.2% to 5.7% for Their Vehicle Models - UPDATED With Price List


In line with the Malaysian government’s recent announcement of zero sales tax (0%SST) for cars sold in Malaysia for a six month period beginning 15 June 2020 to 31 December 2020, PROTON will reduce its car prices by 1.2% - 5.7%. The new reduction in prices reflect the zero SST incentive which is a measure implemented by the Malaysian government to try boost the economy as the country emerges from its COVID-19 induced lockdown. 

Latest Mitsubishi ASX and Outlander Prices from Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Effective 15 June to 31 December 2020

Due to the recent move by the Malaysia government to try bolster the automotive industry and spur local consumption due to the recent slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, have announced their new pricelist for the Mitsubishi ASX Compact SUV and Outlander SUV in Malaysia. Goodyear Malaysia Announces Zero Contact Initiative for all Goodyear Autocare Centres


Goodyear Malaysia recently announced its Zero Contact Initiative (Zero Contact), whereby customers can get new tyres fitted at any participating Goodyear Autocare centre without any direct person-to-person contact throughout the entire process. As per the usual norm these days, this is to ensure a safe environment for its consumers and staff as businesses resume amidst the COVID-19 pandemic affecting us all. New Volkswagen Prices Effective 15 June 2020 to 31 December 2020 For Malaysia



Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) have announced a reduction on the prices of its models of up to RM9,484, following the announcement on the sales tax exemption. This adjustment will take effect from today, the 15th of  June 2020 and will continue to take effect till the 31st of December 2020.

Perodua Extends Vehicle Servicing Operating Hours at Selected Centres Nationwide

HINO Poncho Minibus Starts New Trial Route in Johor Bahru - Operated by Handal Indah Sdn Bhd


The HINO Poncho 7 meter minibus is starting a trial run within Johor Bahru. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been recently entered into between Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Hino Malaysia) and Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (Handal Indah) to start a trial run of a low-floor mini bus in Johor Bahru. The Poncho, is a cute looking, low floor minibus that will be plying Route 10B, which is the route that travels along Johor Bahru City, Pelangi, Sentosa, Pandan, Taman Daya and Taman Setia Indah. It will be almost a one month trial which begins today, the 15th of June to the 12th of July 2020.

Latest Toyota Malaysia Vehicle Prices from 15 June to 31 December 2020

Volkswagen Offers Nationwide Home Delivery Service for New Cars - Free Within a 20km Radius From The Selected Showroom


Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) had announced on the 1st of June 2020 a new sales initiative which offers Volkswagen owners the option to have their new cars delivered to their homes, or offices, or even factories. The service is available nationwide at all authorized Volkswagen dealerships. Delivery is free for owners located within a 20-kilometre radius from their selected dealership. So if you live a bit further than that, charges may apply. Anyway, more value added services from VPCM to their customers.

2020 Ford Ranger FX4 Launched via Ford Malaysia's YouTube and Facebook Channels - Priced at RM126,888 OTR Without Insurance


Ford Motor Company together with Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole distributor for Ford in Malaysia, recently launched the New 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 in Malaysia via Facebook and YouTube Live through a product walkaround session. PROTON Records Sales of 5,676 in May 2020 - Good Numbers Despite Movement Control Measures & Other News - Promo on X70 and for Frontliners


We have just come out of the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the Malaysian government trying to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and are now hopefully into the tailend of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). The shutdown of the country's businesses due to this has led to a near total economic slowdown and now, the automotive industry like other sectors are moving slowly, hoping for recovery of sorts. Malaysian car company PROTON has posted its May 2020 sales figures and they have sold a promising 5,676 units of vehicles.

Perodua Sells 7,886 Vehicles in May 2020 / June Sales Campaign Promo - Promising Numbers Amid the Movement Control Order Slowdown in Business


According to the Malaysian Automotive Association, the country's Total Industry Volume (TIV) for vehicle sales will drop from around slightly over 600,000 to about 400,000 due to economic slowdown forced globally by the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be something to monitor closely as now, Malaysia is coming out from the Movement Control Order (MCO) period and people are now going back to work, albeit in a different, more social distanced way. We are now getting the first reports of sales figures and the first is Perodua, which has closed the month of May 2020 with 7,886 cars sold, bringing its year-to-date (YTD) sales total to 52,920 units.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Launches the 2020 Mercedes-AMG Compact Car Series in Malaysia - A 45 S 4MATIC+. CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ & A 35 4MATIC



Mercedes-Benz Malaysia celebrated its first ever online, or internet premiere of the latest Mercedes-AMG compact cars yesterday afternoon due to the Conditional Movement Control Order imposed in the country due to the COVID-19 outbreak. These new Mercedes-AMG are the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC, 2020 A 45 4MATIC+ hot hatchbacks and as the first model debut for Malaysia, the 2020 CLA 45 4MATIC+. These are the essentially the piping hot variants of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchbacks and the hottest CLA four-door coupe which you can get. Now on the second generation of the new batch of Mercedes-Benz compact car chassis, it gets the best that Mercedes-AMG can offer for compact cars.

2020 Volvo S60 T8 R-Design Now Offered in Locally Assembled (CKD) Form


On the 18th May 2020, which was sometime just before the recent Hari Raya Idil Fitri celebrations here in Malaysia, Volvo Car Malaysia launched the Volvo S60 T8 in its Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) or locally assembled form for the country. This is similar to the current fully imported of Completely Built-Up (CBU) variant, the Volvo S60 T8 CKD and it will only come in a single T8 R-Design variant for Malaysia. In this new CKD form, it will now cost us RM295,888 (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of excise duty and sales tax) and will be available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers and also available for booking via the Volvo Car Malaysia website, which makes sense in these times of a pandemic.

Perodua Has Resumed All Operations Nationwide After the Two Month MCO Closure


Good news for all Perodua owners and customers. The Malaysian compact car manufacturer has officially resumed operations at all 182 sales, 202 service and 68 Body & Paint outlets nationwide, after a two-month Movement Control Order (MCO) closure. As with all re-opening of car dealerships nationwide, Perodua have put in place their Standard Operating Procedures to safeguard everyone within their facilities, be it their staff and also the people who are visiting their premises.

Ferrari F8 Spider Previewed in South East Asia for the First Time in Kuala Lumpur


Aside from previewing the Ferrari 812 GTS for the first time in South East Asia over at the Ferrari Kuala Lumpur showroom recently, Naza Italia, official importer and distributor of the Ferrari brand in Malaysia, made another South East Asia debut. The  Ferrari F8 Spider is also in town. The V8 Ferrari Spider is the latest generation of drop-top sports car equipped with the most successful mid-rear-mounted V8 in history. It also shows that Malaysia is quite an important market for the Prancing Horse as we get to preview the supercar first.

Ferrari 812 GTS - The V12 Spider Makes its South East Asia Debut Here in Malaysia


Last week, Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor of the Ferrari brand in Malaysia, announced that the long-awaited Ferrari 812 GTS has made its South East Asia debut on Malaysian soil and is available for private viewing. The 812 GTS is available from the base price of RM1,538,000 (before duties, customization options, taxes and insurance). It is will be available for private viewing for interested parties from the 31st of May 2020 onwards.

The New Brand Design and Logo of Volkswagen is Now Implemented Malaysia


In September 2019, Volkswagen premiered the “New Volkswagen“ brand design and logo at the IAA in Frankfurt. This is a realignment is one of the world’s largest rebranding campaigns and the new  logo is reduced to essentials and digital-friendly. This is very much in line with the two dimensional nature of most contemporary brand logos designed during this era, where it makes things a lot more simpler than the 3D designs which were all the rage during the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Note new logos of other brands like Instagram or even Android, everything is now 2D rather than 3D and now it is finally officially launched in Malaysia.

Ferrari Starts Producing Prancing Horses Again Over At Maranello


It has been awhile since I actually wrote or talked about Ferrari. Couple that to the Movement Control Order here in Malaysia, it seems like a lifetime ago. This week, the Ferrari factories in Maranello and Modena have gradually returned to full production, in line with the "Back on Track" program. The first car produced after a long forced break was a Ferrari Monza SP2 (pictured above).

PROTON Introduces Their Intelligent Air Purification System for the Proton X70 - Work Ongoing for Other Models At the Moment


PROTON has announced the introduction of the PROTON Intelligent Air Purification System (P -IAPS). This in-car air purifier will be offered as standard equipment on the 2020 Proton X70 and will greatly improve the air quality inside the SUV. It also can be retro-fitted for a small sum to existing Proton X70 so current owners need not worry too much. PROTON's engineers are also working on making it work for their other models to which would be good in a time where a worldwide pandemic (COVID-19) is currently ongoing.

Toyota to Resume Production in its Bukit Raja Plant


Toyota will be starting up its production back again after its closure due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) which was put in place by the Malaysian government to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.  Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB), UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd’s subsidiary involved in manufacturing Toyota vehicles, has resumed its assembly operations at its plant in Bukit Raja, Selangor.

Hyundai- Sime Darby to Provide Subsidies for Dealers and Sales Consultants Affected by the Movement Control Order - Also, Their Service Centres and Now Open


This is quite a good move by the Malaysian distributors of Hyundai. The authorised distributors of Hyundai here, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced that they will be assisting their dealers and also the sales consultants affected by the Movement Control Order lockdown (due to COVID-19) of non-essential services here by offering subsidies to help with their financial difficulties. This comes into play as the Malaysian government has now enforced a less stringent MCO where businesses are finally allowed to open again.

Renault Malaysia Goes Strong Online - Moving Forward Post Movement Control Order in Malaysia, Subscription, Mobile Application & More


Recently I 'attended' an online media briefing by TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the authorised distributors for Renault in Malaysia and they basically briefed us on how they will move forward especially in this era of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused the country to go into somewhat of a lockdown. Of course, Renault Malaysia via TCEC had even, prior to this Movement Control Order period decided to have more of and online presence and also their uniquely tailored subscriotion plans which allow customers to have flexible ownership of a Renault.

Today is 5th May 2020. It is the day where Malaysia partially comes out of the Movement Control Order (MCO) put in place in order to try keep the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in check. Some businesses and industries are allowed to start up again after a long 'stay at home' break and people can now travel slightly more freer than before. Of course, this means that most of the large automotive industry players have started to come out of hibernation too. Like Malaysia's PROTON.

UMW Toyota Motor ReOpens Selected Toyota Service Centres Around Malaysia


UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) has received approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to re-open selected authorised Toyota service centres in Malaysia following the new directives pertaining to the COVID-19 Movement Control Order affecting the country. The company will open selected Toyota outlets for emergency and urgent service requirements only, at minimum capacity. So take note.

PROTON Starts Deliveries of Face Shields Produced by Them to Medical Frontliners in the Fight Against COVID-19



Malaysian vehicle manufacturer PROTON has started producing face shields for medical frontliners. This could be the biggest commitment by the company to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Malaysia. The first batch of 8,000 units will be shipped out on 16 April 2020 to hospitals in Kelantan followed by other East coast states.

The folks who are the distributors of Ford vehicles here, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), have announced the start of its Ford Ranger WildTrak promotion which will be offered with a cash rebate of RM7,000 from now until further notice.  This and the ‘Ford Ranger XLT Family Promotion’ which is currently ongoing until 31 May 2020 which will offer customers savings of up to RM 9,000 for Ranger XLT 2.2L, RM8,000 for Ranger XLT Special Edition and RM 7,188 for XLT Plus.

'Kia Promise' On Vehicle Warranties Expiring During the COVID-19 Lockdown Period


If you own a Kia vehicle here in Malaysia and having its warranty expiring during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period you need not worry. There is the Covid-19 ‘Kia Promise’ which extends vehicle warranties. This international warranty is by Kia Motors Corporation and it extends cover for vehicles with original manufacturer warranty that expires between February 1 and April 30, 2020.
