Ford Motor Company together with Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole distributor for Ford in Malaysia, recently launched the New 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 in Malaysia via Facebook and YouTube Live through a product walkaround session. The launch, on the 3rd of June 2020 was like many others which happened during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period which was imposed due to Malaysian wanting to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. The new norm for the moment is social distancing and the New Ford Ranger FX4 is the first pickup truck in the country to be launched on two online platforms simultaneously.
According to Ford, the New 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 was designed for customers who are looking for a truck with a lot more attitude, and those who take their truck on adventures while making use of its best-in- class towing and payload capabilities. It is a truck for the adventure seeker, and its addition to Ford Malaysia's line-up of nine variants here further reinforces the Ranger’s versatility as a vehicle to suit every lifestyle.
On a personal note, the Ranger FX4 is a well equipped Ford Ranger. It sits above the Ranger XLT 2.2L variant which costs from RM116,888. It however does not come with the nearly similarly priced XLT Plus 2.0L variant which starts from RM124,888. The XLT Plus gets the newer 2.0L engine and 10 speed transmission unit. The FX4 comes with the 2.2L and 6 speed automatic unit so it basically has the equipment of the XLT Plus but the more simple earlier engine and transmission unit.
So Ford is offering you folks out there a chance to get better equipment but with the more basic engine and transmission unit. It could work out to be more a better buy for certain folks out there actually. There are some who basically like the ease of maintenance down the line and some may want to keep their Ranger longer than most people.
