'Kia Promise' On Vehicle Warranties Expiring During the COVID-19 Lockdown Period

If you own a Kia vehicle here in Malaysia and having its warranty expiring during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period you need not worry. There is the Covid-19 ‘Kia Promise’ which extends vehicle warranties. This international warranty is by Kia Motors Corporation and it extends cover for vehicles with original manufacturer warranty that expires between February 1 and April 30, 2020.

The Kia Promise extends warranty cover to June 2020 and it aims to help customers who may be unable to visit a workshop during pandemic lockdown period. This program covers around over 500,000 Kia vehicles worldwide inclusive Malaysia where Naza Kia is the authorised distributors of Kia here. The Kia Promise covers 142 countries and all vehicles with original Kia warranties that expiry between February 1 and April 30, 2020. The program extends the warranty of all eligible vehicles to June 30, 2020.

Kia Motors believes that more than 500,000 customers worldwide could benefit from the Kia Promise warranty extension. Kia Promise aims to help customers who may be unable to visit an authorised workshop during this time. The program also helps customers who are not able to bring their car in for servicing.

Sangdae Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Customer Experience Division at Kia Motors Corporation, commented: “By extending Kia’s comprehensive warranty cover to customers who may be affected by the pandemic, Kia Motors hopes they have one less thing to worry about during this time. Our goal is to help to alleviate any concerns our customers have about vehicle maintenance during periods of social distancing.”

Prioritizing the safety, health and well-being of its customers, business partners and employees, Kia Motors continues to closely monitor COVID-19 developments in communities where it does business. The company continuously strives to prevent infections at its facilities while working with federal, state and local authorities, complying with all standards set by those entities.

So once the MCO period has been lifted, if would be advisable for you to contact the nearest Kia dealership and get your issues worked out as soon as possible. This is so that you actually get a spot to get your car looked at and are not number 5320 in the queue which would also include those who need servicing and other repairs done to their cars.
