[updated] Proton to Restart Operations Today, the 5th of May 2020 As the Government Loosens the Movement Control Order Restrictions

Today is 5th May 2020. It is the day where Malaysia partially comes out of the Movement Control Order (MCO) put in place in order to try keep the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in check. Some businesses and industries are allowed to start up again after a long 'stay at home' break and people can now travel slightly more freer than before. Of course, this means that most of the large automotive industry players have started to come out of hibernation too. Like Malaysia's PROTON.

PROTON has restarted operations today according to their press release (and confirmed with their latest press release as at 9.18pm today). The gradual process to try get things going again is happening and there will be new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in place so that there will be less risk of their personnel spreading the coronavirus during their vehicle manufacturing processes.

Lets hope that all of the procedures in place do actually allow the safety of all their staff. Of course, for their customers who require their Proton to be serviced, now's the time. Book your appointment first before heading to a service centre. Eventually, you may even head over to a showroom and view the Proton of your choice if you want to go buy one.

Of course, you will still have to follow social distancing and not get too cozy with the sales people. You should know the drill now folks!
