Due to the recent move by the Malaysia government to try bolster the automotive industry and spur local consumption due to the recent slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, have announced their new pricelist for the Mitsubishi ASX Compact SUV and Outlander SUV in Malaysia. The new prices are effective immediately until 31 December 2020.
The price reduction is due to the Malaysian government’s announcement to drop Sales and Service tax (SST) for cars, which sees a 100% sales tax exemption on locally-assembled (CKD) models. Basically, you get a 6% SST rebate from the purchase price. Somewhat like the GST free period we experienced a couple of years ago.

Prices above are quoted on-the-road without insurance for private registration in Peninsular and East Malaysia and not applicable for duty free zones.
Why is the price of the Mitsubishi Triton not on this list? Well, the Mitsubishi Triton is imported from Thailand while the ASX and the Outlander are locally assembled here in Malaysia. So the SST rebate isn't as large as the locally assembled ones. It will be published here once we get the official figures.
