Here is Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's update on passenger car prices following the announcement of the Malaysian government's new economic stimulus plan to stimulate the economy amidst the COVID-19 crisis. The initiative to assist the automotive industry includes 100% sales tax exemption for locally-assembled vehicles and a 50% reduction for fully-imported models from 15 th June 2020 until the end of the tax free incentive period. Since Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has a large local assembly catalouge as well as an equally large fully imported line-up here as well as loyal customers, many would like know how much would a new Mercedes-Benz cost.
There is quite a nice drop when you remove the SST for the locally assembled models, obviously. The most popular model that many potential customers would be looking at are the C-Class and E-Class variants as this are the ones that many aspire to own in the near future. We are looking at an average of RM9,000 to RM15,000 drop for the popular ones in these classes. A small carrot to entice buyers especially when you couple with any other offers and promotions that the dealerships are also providing.
This is because in times of economic uncertainty, many brands have their own set of offers already put up and with this new tax rebate, buyers are going to see more discounts thrown at them. Of course, it does show you that cash, or a strong line of credit in king especially when there is some turmoil abound.
The adjusted manufacturer’s recommended retail selling prices for each Mercedes-Benz model in line with sales tax exemption for locally-assembled and fully imported vehicles are in the list below. and is stated to be effective from 15 th June until the end of the tax free incentive period, which is 31 December 2020
