UMW Toyota Launches the Hilux L-Edition - Luxury Spec in 2.8L & 2.4L 4x4 AT Forms

UMW Toyota, the official distributors of Toyota here have launched the Toyota Hilux L-Edition in both 2.8 litre AT 4x4 and 2.4 litre AT 4x4 variants. The ‘L’  hererefers to ‘Luxury’ and was launched to add more variety to the Hilux line-up here in Malaysia. Prices start at RM119,300 for the 2.4 L-Edition and from RM133,900 for the 2.8 L-Edition.

All Toyota Hilux models now come with a 5-year warranty and /or 150,000kms (other Toyotas come with an unlilmited mileage warranty by the way). The warranty is transferable to the next owner within the terms and conditions making this Hilux quite a reasonable purchase if you are one of those people that keep cars for a short period of time and want more resale value.

The Hilux L-Edition differs from other Hilux variants is a slightly different front grille design with a more aggressive appearance. The bumper also has a different profile with a larger and wider air intake below the grille. The exterior has more emphasis on the bulletproof nature of the Hilux.

The rear end of the pick-up trucks gets a new rear step ornament is integrated with some shiny silver trim (well, luxury does equal some 'bling'). The Hilux L-Edition also comes with a new stylish 5-spoke 18-inch rims with two tone silver and black.

As for the interior, the Hilux L-Edition has an all-black interior theme for various materials and textures. There is paneling in piano black throughout the cabin for that more premium looking feel. This and the high-quality combination leather seat is perforated for more comfort and better ventilation.

Both L-Edition Hilux are equipped with 7 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) as standard. For the 2.8 L- Edition, Downhill Assist Control (DAC).

The top of the range Hilux 2.8 L-Edition, gets something a little extra - it has designed Optitron meters with white background lighting. Aside from that, you could be just paying a little more road tax compared to the 2.4 L-Edition. Performance and one extra active safety feature. aside, that is.

The new variant features the existing (and super reliable) Hilux 2.8-litre and 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shifter. This is then sent to the selectable 4 wheel drive system (by selectable it means you can switch between all wheel drive and the usual 2wd).

The Hilux has always been a favourite with Malaysian contractors and those that want a pick-up truck. So it it obvious UMW Toyota are always looking at ways to improve on it. This is basically them saying that we want you to buy more Hilux and here are another two reasons for it.
