Perodua Estimates 17.1% Total Market Share For February - Delivers A Total of 28,000 Myvi To Date From a Record 60,000 Bookings

Perodua has to date received a total of 60,000 bookings for their newest darling, the new Myvi. So far, the Malaysian compact car manufacturer (well, they still do not make anything cars larger than their Alza compact MPV) have managed to deliver approximately 28,000 Myvis which is close to 50% of the total number of  bookings since its launch November last year. This must be a record of sorts...

A record in many ways as Perodua has managed to deliver not only 28,000 Myvis to date but also sell loads of their other models too going by January and February 2018 sales numbers. On a year-on- year basis, Perodua’s sales performance improved by 13.1% to 34,800 units against 30,800 vehicles sold in the first two months of 2017.

According to Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin, based on the the current sales figures, Perodua estimates its market share for the month of February to surpass 41% with 17,100 vehicles sold against an estimated 41,100-unit Total Industry Volume (TIV). From this figure, Perodua says that the breakdown are 6,500 Myvis, 5,000 Axias, 3,700 Bezzas and 1,900Alzas sold during the period mentioned. Perodua targets to sell 209,000 units this year – a 2% increase from the 204,900 units sold in 2017. A figure which is theoretically achievable by the looks of it.

As for those interested to get a new Myvi before the upcoming Hari Raya Idil Fitri holidays, Dato’ Dr Zahari said that customers who place their bookings now for the new Myvi will most likely receive their cars in time for the Raya holidays. Perodua also stated that they have fulfilled all the confirmed Myvi orders made in 2017 when it was just launched - this itself numbered over 15,000 bookings in total.

Perodua also mentioned in passing that they have ramped up production of the Myvi to cope with the demand. Aside from that, Dato’ Dr Zahari also mentioned that customers should only deal with authorised Perodua sales personnel at authorised Perodua outlets. This is to ensure that no one gets cheated as everyone wants a piece of the action.

Well, in terms of the Myvi, it is super value for money for what it brings. There are some small flaws in this gem of a car, but it just ticks so many right boxes that Malaysians are falling so much in love with it. So if you are one of them, make sure you go through the proper channels in order to own it.
