The Scania, Top Team Malaysia 2017-2018 has just concluded. This biannual competition has been organised by the Swedish truck and bus manufacturer to find the best (after sales) service team out there. This time, the team “Pendekar Penyu” (above) led by Mohd. Faizal bin Abd. Aziz, from Scania Malaysia Ipoh Branch had been crowned champion.
For the very first time in a Scania Top Team event here, info stations were set up with its main focus on Sustainability. Championing sustainable transport solutions gave first-hand insight to the Top Team contestants on fuel-efficient technologies, alternative fuel & electrification technologies and safe & smart transport solutions such as the autonomous vehicle systems.
This is in line with the rapidly changing transportation industry where Scania as well as business owners are continuously looking at various ways to increase productivity and maximising profitability. Scania continues to be ready to help our customers achieve that by ensuring that their personnel build up their skills and knowledge on the latest skills and tech. What ever the participants had encountered and learnt during the competition could be transferred to their daily tasks in servicing Scania vehicles.
The Malaysia’s Scania Top Team competition is a national competition programme which Malaysian teams compete in theory and technical challenges, and judged on their competency in areas such as logistics, methodology and technical knowledge. At the same time, team discipline and the ability to work under pressure were also measured.
The Scania Top Team competition had developed from a national training event in Sweden which was then turned into a global competition programme held once every two years. This year is the 10th instalment to be organised at an international level, involving more than 8,000 participants from 65 countries.
Aside from being a method to train the service personnel, it is also a means of reward. The winning team from the national league will represent the country at the regional competition in September 2018. From the five regional leagues held around the world, 10 teams will be selected for the Top Team World Finals, which will be held in Sweden, where teams will compete for the total prize amount of 100,000 Euros.
Quite an impressive reward if we may say so ourselves. We hope Team Malaysia makes the cut right till the end!
