Commercial vehicles: Daihatsu Malaysia hands over 22 units of the Gran Max trucks to GIATMARA

Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (DMSB) handed over twenty-two (22) units of brand new Daihatsu Gran Max light trucks to GIATMARA MALAYSIA recently. These 1.5liter Gran Max trucks which will be utilised by newly graduated GIATMARA technical and vocational graduates under the ‘TRUCK-PRENEUR’ entrepreneurship programme.

These 22 trucks will be utilised by 22 graduates to kick start their mobile businesses (most likely in the food & beverage sector) where GIATMARA would have provided them the training, a soft loan to start them up which would be utilised to procure the truck as well as equipment needed to run the business.

We hope that these lucky 22 recipients would not let this opportunity go to waste and become successful traders and businessmen. It isn't always that someone hands you the keys to your own business, or truck.

As for the Gran Max, it is powered by a 1.5liter DVVT engine which makes 107hp coupled to a 5 speed manual transmission which drives the rear wheels. The truck was originally launched in 2007 for the ASEAN region and has carried on to date with revisions along the way.

The Gran Max in pick up truck form with its various configuration is an effective small business platform with its robust construction and reliability which should give these entrepreneurs good cost per kilometer of service. The price for the Gran Max pickup start at RM66,000+ for a wood panel truck, RM70,000+ for a hawker or confectionery van to over RM80,000 for a mobile cafe  / food truck before equipment is loaded in.

Daihatsu Malaysia hopes that this would be the start of a fruitful relationship with GIATMARA and hopes that more of their vehicles will feature in GIATMARA's future plans.
