Truck News: UD Trucks & Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd Delivers The First Unit Of The UD Croner In Malaysia

UD Trucks and sole distributor partner in Malaysia, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE) recently delivered the first unit of UD Croner in Malaysia to Ong Brothers Petroleum Sdn Bhd.  The UD Croner is an all-new medium duty truck and it was only launched here in August 2017. It looks like the roll out of the Croner here has been pretty fast.

Ong Brothers have been a UD Truck customer since 1984 when they first purchased the Nissan Diesel CMF truck. This was back in the days where UD Trucks was known as Nissan Diesel (which also explains the TCIE link here to those that aren't aware). The company, who was first established in 1962, have been in operation for more than 50 years. They handle distribution of quality petroleum products such as engine oil, mineral oil, industry lubricant oil, petroleum jelly fuels, metalworking fluids, cleaners and paraffin waxes within Peninsula Malaysia.

The company currently operates 8 units of UD Trucks, including this new UD Croner and have stated that they have complete trust and confidence in UD Trucks’ because their trucks are reliable, robust, fuel efficient, safe and most importantly it is customizable. The cost per kilometer and its Japanese reliability (keeping good uptime), coupled with UD Trucks being part of the Volvo Group makes it a good choice for the petroleum product carrier.

Of course, like all truck purchases, it is also the long term relationship between the parties that count. Both TCIE and Ong Brothers have been around the block many times over if you know what we mean.

Speaking about the UD Croner, the all-new Croner range is one of UD Trucks’ most fuel-efficient trucks ever. It combines the new GHE engine series, new automatic transmission as an option for all models (good for reducing stress and fatigue of long haul drivers) and a new, more aerodynamic cab design thus improves fuel efficiency of the truck.

Croner comes in two gross vehicle weight (GVW) models that will be available in Malaysia and they are LKE and PKE as well as two engine specification and performance. The vehicles’ wheelbase variants offer a wide range of configurations to suit specific demands of various industries.

It also has a full air brake system (including anti-lock braking system, ABS) with reliable S-cam drum brakes is offered on all variants, delivering safety and increased reliability of the Croner. The ABS system also comes with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which helps avoid over braking of the rear axle and limit the brake pressure based on the wheel so that the rear is more stable under emergency braking conditions. Additionally, the air suspension on the larger PKE model is available as an option to protect customers’ cargo especially when travelling on rough road conditions.
