SMG Mega Sappire Sdn Bhd (SMG) has added two new Scania trucks to its fleet as part of its expansion to cater for the increase in the haulage and loader business. The keys to its two latest P410LA6X2MSZ trucks were handed over to the Managing Director of SMG, Mr Kanapathy Raman Satish by the Sales Director for Scania Southeast Asia, Tuan Haji Idros Puteh today.

SMG Mega Sappire is quite an impressive family operated business. They handle haulage and loader transport services throughout Peninsular Malaysia. They have a fleet of 30 trucks and have announced that they have plans to slowly replace all of their reconditioned (grey imported) trucks with new Scania trucks every six months or so.

As for the truck in question, the Scania P410LA6X2MSZ trucks come with the Opticruise main feature that automatically sets optimal gear change, giving drivers more and better attention spent on maneuvering the trucks while reducing fuel consumption, clutch and synchromesh wear. With its powerful engine, the P410 delivers higher torque (at least 2,000Nm @ 1,000-1,350 rpm with 410 available horses) at lower revs, giving better drivability apart from giving the drivers a pleasurable drive with its fully adjustable steering wheel and enhanced driver cabin ergonomics that will keep the drivers focused and alert at all times to maintain safety for themselves and all other road-users.

The acquisition of the new trucks also come with the two year free Scania Maintenance package, two years of free 24/7 Scania Assistance and a ten year free Fleet Management System (FMS). Apart from that SMG secured these trucks via the Scania Credit facility together with insurance coverage. To ensure maximum uptime from these trucks, Repair and Maintenance contracts were signed for all with a positive view on the Scania Driver Services and Fleet Management System. I believe it is this value added systems and services as well as future sustainability in terms of maintenance and spares that have convinced SMG Mega Sappire to have plans to convert its fleet to Scania trucks in the future.
