Don't you just love downsizing? Now you can buy a huge full-sized SUV (or house) and only pay less road tax for it! Audi Malaysia has just introduced the flagship Audi Q7 with a 2.0liter TFSI engine. This comes in close to a year after the official launch of the current Q7 with the 3.0 TFSI engine here in Malaysia. So you can have all the style of the largest SUV Audi offers with its more common and smaller engine (usually seen in the smaller A4, Q5, A6 models).
I suppose downsizing has its benefits - especially the more affordable entry point and the more affordable road tax.
Important points that most buyers will like is the fact that it is identical to the Q7 3.0 TFSI with the exception of having 19” 5 V-spoke design alloy wheels, instead of 20” cast aluminium wheels. No one will spot the difference at the country club or at the local mall. Unless they're an Audi fanatic of course.
The Audi 2.0 litre TFSI engine is a 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine with direct fuel injection turbo and is coupled to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission that develops a maximum output of 252 hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm between a range of 1,600 and 4,500 rpm. With this configuration, the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro accelerates from 0-100km/h in around 7.1 seconds, a full 0.8 seconds faster than the previous generation’s 3.0 TFSI variant of the Audi Q7. Being the newer model, it actually can use a smaller engine due to the fact that it is about 325kg lighter than the previous entry level Q7. So the power to weight ratio is as good as something with a large engine. Amazing what a generation worth of R&D can get you.
You still get almost all the kit that you can find in the higher specced 3.0 TFSI variant. So this is a worthy addition to the fleet and one that actually allows Audi to compete (in terms of price) against its other premium specced rivals within the RM490-RM550K price bracket. There are a few these days you know (Audi's natural German rivals as well as that return-to-form Swedish marque).
The all-new Audi Q7 is offered in seven colour choices: Glacier White, Floret Silver, Argus Brown, Ink Blue, Graphite Grey, Orca Black and a special Daytona Grey with pearl effect. Available for booking at all authorised Audi dealerships immediately, the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro is CBU (completely built up) and priced from RM 524,900.
If you like to add a little more sportiness in terms of looks, this Q7 2.0 can also be specced with an optional S line package which includes sportier accoutrements on the exterior including the front and rear bumpers, diffusers, 20” cast aluminium wheels amongst other things as well as a more dynamic interior features such as an S line sports steering wheel, sport seats, special inlays and so on for an additional RM 15,000.
PRESS RELEASE
The Audi Q7: Now available as a 2.0 TFSI quattro
Audi Malaysia introduces new variant of its flagship Audi Q7 with a 2.0 TFSI engine
and quattro permanent all-wheel drive
Kuala Lumpur, 7 October 2016 – Almost one year after the launch of the Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI with a
supercharged V6 petrol engine, comes the introduction of the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro, combining a
2.0 litre four-cylinder, inline petrol engine with the quattro permanent-all wheel drive available on its
larger-engined stablemate.
Rudi Venter, Marketing Director for Audi Malaysia shares, “The new Audi Q7 has always been an
extraordinary vehicle, combining the off-road ability of an SUV, the versatility of a family vehicle and
the prestige of an executive sedan. We are very excited to introduce this leaner variant of the Audi Q7
as the direct replacement for the first-generation Audi Q7 3.0 quattro as this car provides better all-
round performance and drivability, improved fuel efficiency and a full-fledged array of infotainment,
convenience and safety features at an attractive price for discerning motorists.”
On the outside, the Audi Q7 2.0 quattro is identical with the 3-litre variant with the exception of having
19” 5 V-spoke design alloy wheels, instead of 20” cast aluminium wheels. Showcasing the refined
Audi Q design language that is sculpted and muscular, the front of the vehicle is especially eye-
catching with a bold Singleframe grille as well as LED headlights and signature LED daytime running
lights forming a distinctive double arrow pattern.
Powering the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro is a 2.0 litre TFSI engine that incorporates a 4-cylinder in-line
petrol engine with direct fuel injection and exhaust gas turbocharging as well as an 8-speed tiptronic
transmission that develops a maximum output of 252 hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm between
a range of 1,600 and 4,500 rpm. With this configuration, the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro accelerates
from 0-100km/h in just 7.1 seconds, a full 0.8 seconds faster than the previous generation’s 3.0 TFSI
variant of the Audi Q7. Despite its sporty capabilities, the new Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro has a frugal
fuel consumption rating of just 7.4l/100 km and a CO2 emissions rating of just 172 g/km.
The agile handling dynamics and fuel-sipping characteristics of the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI are especially
remarkable for a large premium SUV with the largest interior in its class and are as a result of a
weight reduction of approximately 325 kilogrammes from the previous generation. This benefit comes
from courtesy of Audi’s strict adherence to the principle of lightweight construction including the
usage of intelligent multi-material design and the strategic deployment of aluminium components.
The all-new Audi Q7 has also been engineered to provide a cossetting and comfortable experience
with adaptive air suspension as standard, uniting air suspension with a continuously variable
electronically controlled air spring damper system that ensures comfort, dynamic handling and that
the vehicle will always remain level, regardless of the load distribution.
In addition to the standard Auto, Dynamic, Efficiency, Comfort and Individual settings, the Audi drive
select in the Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro also features an Allroad mode which prepares the vehicle for mixed
terrain by lifting the ride height by 25 mm and Lift/Offroad mode which prepares the SUV to go far off
the beaten track by raising the right height to the maximum of 60 mm. On the other end of the
spectrum, there is a convenient loading mode, which lowers the rear axle by 45 mm in order to
increase accessibility to the luggage compartment coming in handy whatever you’re loading, be it
groceries or furniture.
Upon entry, the Audi Q7 is a luxurious lounge for up to seven people, with electrically adjustable front
seats with four-way lumbar support, a generously apportioned second row with ample leg room and a
versatile electrically-operated third row of 50:50 split seats that can be folded down to increase the
cargo space from an already spacious 770 litres to a cavernous 1955 litres. Front seat passengers
are greeted with finely crafted dashboard featuring a two-tone inlay featuring an upper inlay in silver
grey with a diamond finish and a lower inlay in anthracite with an anodised finish.
With a 4-spoke steering wheel with multifunction plus and shift paddles providing an executive yet
sporty interface with the vehicle, the inside of the Audi Q7 is truly a dynamic place to be. The Audi
MMI navigation plus with MMI touch infotainment system that forms the nerve centre of the vehicle
can be accessed either via the 8.3” central screen with high-resolution graphics also rises
automatically from the dashboard upon engine ignition or through the driver information system (DIS)
that is built into the driver instrument cluster, providing easy control of the vehicle’s navigation,
infotainment and telephone features. In terms of infotainment, the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro comes
equipped with the Audi sound system featuring a 9-channel amplifier with 10 loudspeakers for a total
output of 180 watts.
The new Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro also comes packed with all the electronic and mechanical features
that the 3 litre variant enjoys, including a start/stop system with energy recovery, tyre pressure loss
indicator, hill descent control, Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) which includes Traction Control
(ASR), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Anti-lock
Braking System (ABS) and a total of eight airbags.
The all-new Audi Q7 is offered in seven colour choices: Glacier White, Floret Silver, Argus Brown, Ink
Blue, Graphite Grey, Orca Black and a special Daytona Grey with pearl effect. Available for booking
at all authorised Audi dealerships immediately, the Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI quattro is CBU (completely built
up) and priced from RM 524,900. This sporty SUV can also be specced with an optional S line
package which includes sportier accoutrements on the exterior including the front and rear bumpers,
diffusers, 20” cast aluminium wheels amongst other things as well as a more dynamic interior
features such as an S line sports steering wheel, sport seats, special inlays and so on for an
additional RM 15,000.
