This piece of news is something that gives hope to Malaysians who intend to compete in the world stage. Perodua has announced that it is sponsoring Muhammad Nabil Jan Al Jeffri in this year's GP2 Race Series. Perodua joins a list of sponsors that include our Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (The Youth and Sports Ministry of Malaysia). At a young 22 years of age, he would need all the assistance he can get to be able to compete in the international level.
The GP2 Race Series is an important race series. It is one of the best paths into Formula One. But the thing with Formula One, or even GP2 racing is that sometimes talent from outside the usual circles require a push in terms of funding. I am very glad that Perodua sees benefit in sponsoring Nabil. In the world of motorsport, I'd consider Nabil as an underdog in terms of exposure. So Perodua's sponsorship is a big thing.
Even Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dr Zahari Husin had said that Nabil's path in motorsport is that of the underdog. Like Perodua, both have started from the bottom.
Congratulations is in order to both Nabil Jeffri and Perodua, who have seen the importance in investing in local talent on the international level. And lLet's hope that Nabil Jeffri achieve success with all of this backing.

“We wish to be in Nabil Jeffri’s corner as he climbs to the top as he had surely shown
that he has what it takes to be the next F1 champion,” Zahari said.
