Perodua had recently opened its 199th sales outlet (which includes sales sub outlets) through its newly appointed dealer, MD Worlds Sdn Bhd in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. According to Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari Husin, East Malaysia is an important market for Perodua as there are a lot of untapped potential there particularly with all the development projects planned by the federal and state government.

The outlet was officially opened by the Sarawak Chief Minister YAB Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and was attended by MD Motors Managing Director and owner Mr Freddy Numan Lawan. Dato’ Dr. Zahari also mentioned that MD Worlds was appointed based on its experience in the automotive industry and its knowledge of the market in the state.
One of the reasons for opening another outlet in East Malaysia is that in the first quarter of 2017, Perodua sold a total of 50,300 vehicles, of which only 5% comes from East Malaysia. A small number considering the size of the state and its population. As such, Perodua is looking to further increase that number by improving their current sales operations as well as expanding with partners such as MD Worlds
Right now, the MD Worlds only operates a showroom in Kota Samarahan but they expect to expand this to a full 3S service centre by the end of 2018.
