PERODUA Launches the Bezza sedan in Mauritius

showroom at Port-Louis, Mauritius’ capital recently.

The Perodua Bezza sedan has now set foot on the island of Mauritius. This makes the island nation Perodua's second export destination for its new Bezza sedan. The launch of the Perodua Bezza in Mauritius was held at Perodua's distributor in Mauritius, Rauf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd’s sales showroom at Port-Louis, Mauritius’ capital on the 29th of April 2017 and was hosted by the Rauf Dusmohamud’s Managing Director Mr Raouf Dusmohamud.

The Bezza 1.0L manual transmission is priced at 562,884 Mauritian Rupees (RM70,405.35) while the Bezza 1.0L automatic transmission is priced at 589,268 Mauritian Rupees (RM 73,705.45). The Bezza 1.3L Premium X manual transmission is priced at 657,699 Mauritian Rupees (RM 82,264.78) while the Bezza 1.3L automatic transmission is priced at 684,990 Mauritian Rupees (RM 85,678.33). With the introduction of the Bezza to Mauritius, Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd now distributed three Perodua models which are the Axia, Alza and Bezza.

The company has targeted to sell on average about 168 units of the Perodua Bezza per year targeting car rental businesses, city taxis, young professionals and those with young families. As Mauritius has one of the highest car ownership per person ratio of any African country (it is an island off the African continent), that target is quite possible even with a relatively small population of around 2million people on the island.

Of course, do note the prices aren't as affordable as you think they are. A Bezza 1.0L manual costs RM70,000! This is quite a bit more than what it costs here (RM20,000+ more...easily).

It definitely is quite interesting when we get to hear of markets in far away places. Everything is interesting especially in terms of pricing and the way the market differs from ours.

Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd was appointed Perodua’s authorised distributor in 1996 and have sold over 2,000 Perodua vehicles (from 1996 to 2016) with the Perodua Viva as its bestselling model with 711 units sold between 2008 and 2014.

The vehicles distributed by Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd include the Perodua Kancil, Rusa, Kelisa, Kembara, Myvi, Viva, Axia, Alza and Bezza.

Whilst the Viva was the best selling model for Perodua Mauritius, it only sold 711 units between 2008 to 2014. The Bezza could be the way to go in emerging markets where the status of a sedan counts highly. Regardless of size.
