Another five PROTON dealers will be upgrading their dealerships to 3S and 4S centres respectively. This piece of news comes a few weeks after the recent announcement of the dealership revitalization plans and the initial signing ceremony of the first few dealers who are doing so.
The agreements were signed between PROTON and Pantai Bahru Corporation Sdn Bhd, Harima Automobil (M) Sdn Bhd, Atiara Johan (M) Sdn Bhd (photo above), Rahman Brothers Automotive Sdn Bhd and Hoi Keen Services Sdn Bhd.
Dr Ho Tuck Sum, Head of Sales and Network Planning, represented PROTON, with Dato’ Shamshudin Nor, Director of Pantai Bharu Corporation Sdn Bhd, Liew Vee Lee, Director of Harima Automobil (M) Sdn Bhd, Judith Yam Siew Chu, Managing Director of Atiara Johan (M) Sdn Bhd, Mohd Nazrin Bin Mohamad Fozi, Director of Rahman Brothers Automotive Sdn Bhd and Leong Chue Chye, Managing Director of Hoi Keen Services Sdn Bhd representing their respective dealerships. Also present were Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Dr Li Chunrong and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Dato’ Radzaif Mohamed as well as senior management members of PROTON were present to grace the occasion.
Dr Li stated that PROTON will move ahead to ensure the company continues to remain relevant and competitive in the automotive industry. And to do so, PROTON must deliver to Malaysians top of the class products, quality and services. Hence he also stated that it is only natural that PROTON's dealers have agreed to upgrade their premises to 3S and 4S.
The new sales game plan is for PROTON push up the customer experience with the best possible sales and service experience. Dr. Li stated that this is not an option but it is a must for PROTON in order to succeed.
“For me, the fact that we have more dealers joining in to upgrade their outlets speaks volume. This shows that there are businessmen out there who believe in the PROTON brand and have utmost confidence that this partnership with PROTON will elevate to greater heights and increase brand presence in the industry,” said Dr. Li.
As stated, PROTON is pushing hard and now has more will and determination. There are plans being made to ensure that customer satisfaction remain a key priority in its business. This effort is to ensure that PROTON dealers are more standardized and of better quality overall. This starts with the dealership incentive programme currently being offered to existing dealers who wish to upgrade their centres to 3S and 4S centres. It also offers this programme to those that are interested to join as new dealers too and the programme is one of the best incentive schemes in the industry right now according to PROTON.
Of course, what this means is that no current dealership will be taking PROTON for a ride anymore. There are stricter controls, monthly sales quotas and now with the upgrading of dealerships, PROTON is actually telling those dealers that do not perform and do not upgrade will have their places taken over by other interested parties. It is sales quotas, sales & after sales quality coupled with customer satisfaction and now you have to upgrade your centres.
But, PROTON isn't letting old dealers go just by putting in new rules and regulations. They are still willing to give incentives for dealers to upgrade so that they can remain competitive and maintain their dealership. Upgrade and give better quality to customers, to stay relevant. It is also telling us out there that PROTON is serious in their revival. Having more proper one stop 3S and 4S centres are vital in this day and age where customer satisfaction is a key factor in achieving sales numbers.
Dato’ Shamshudin Nor, Director of Pantai Bharu Corporation Sdn Bhd, said, “We are confident with the brand and that is why we have been in PROTON business for the past 32 years. After my trip to Geely, we trust that PROTON will turnaround. With the technology that Geely has, we believe we are able to compete on par, if not better, with other players in the automotive industry. The decision to upgrade to a 3S centre is quite timely”.
As for Liew Vee Lee, Director of Harima Automobil, who is upgrading to a 4S centre, “We have been a PROTON dealer since 1986. PROTON has found a good partner in Geely and this partnership will see us drive together into a better future. I am confident that with the improvement in quality and competitive priced cars, as well as good after sales service, it is certainly moving in the right direction”.
Note that both companies have been PROTON dealers for decades. They still believe in the brand and they are also investing their time and money into this new programme.
Interesting times for PROTON ahead.
