Lexus Malaysia Opens The Order Books For The New 2018 Lexus LS - Launch First Quarter of 2018

Lexus Malaysia have announced that they are now accepting orders for the latest, and possibly greatest, Lexus LS series. The Lexus LS Series is the premium brand's newest flagship sedan and was unveiled at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit recently. This is Lexus' fifth generation LS series sedan and it looks like a step forward in the right direction in terms of styling and design.

The 2018 Lexus LS is scheduled to arrive on Malaysian shores in the first quarter of 2018 and will be made available in three variants - the LS Luxury, LS Executive and the LS Executive Hybrid (the most powerful and range topping variant) with prices from RM799,000+ to a whopping RM1,460,132+. The premium luxury sedan is fully imported and will come with a comprehensive unlimited mileage five (5) year warranty.

In terms of powertrain and drivetrain, the 2018 LS which will be sold here will be in the LS 500 variant and will feature Lexus’ first-ever twin-turbocharged 3.5litre V6 engine that delivers 415hp coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an intuitive, predictive steering system. There is a LS350 with a normally aspirated version of the 3.5liter V6 but it would not be brought in. Personally as Malaysia's prices are based on engine capacity not horsepower, it makes perfect sense to bring in the top of the line LS500 variant. It also gives better bragging rights at the country club or at lunch.

The new LS sports a sleeker shape that the previous outings. There is a low slung four-door coupe look to it but Lexus claims that the design maintain the roominess of a traditional 3 Box design. I suppose the proportions masks its actual size. It is a full size luxury sedan after all.

As for the interior, it features Kiriko cut glass and a hand pleated door trim. Both these glass and door trim change in colour according to lighting conditions. In simpler terms, it has mood lighting inside but with a lot of hand finishing in terms of its trimmings. You cannot expect less from a Lexus.

Other relevant details include the  Lexus Safety System which features the Pre Collision System that helps to warn the driver on the possibility of a collision so they may perform a evasive manoeuvre; and the advanced Lane Departure Alert that is capable of detecting boundaries through improved recognition capability to offer continued performance on roads.

The premium sedan was designed and will be manufactured at the Lexus' Tahara plant, the 2018 Lexus LS is already a big hit in Japan with pre-orders for the new flagship sedan reaching 9,500 units, or nearly 1,600% higher than the sales goal of 600 units a month. Quite expected of a new car launch but it does look its part this time around.

Now since Lexus is Toyota's luxury arm and that Lexus Malaysia is a division of UMW Toyota Motor here in Malaysia, aftersales for the Lexus brand is quite well catered by them. Those that are concerned about aftersales maintenance do note that they offer complete aftersales support at seven (7) locations throughout Malaysia. They are after all Japanese and have a reputation for reliability too.
