Mitsubishi Triton Athlete Launched - New High Specification Variant Added To The Triton Line-Up With Mitsubishi Roadshows Nationwide Too!

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially launched the new Mitsubishi Triton Athlete 4x4 pick-up truck. The Triton Athlete is a new high specification variant added into the Malaysian Triton model line-up. It is only available in Black Mica and is made for ‘Everyday Athletes’ where, according to MMM,  it showcases the popular pick-up truck's agility and nimbleness to take on everyday road challenges. It also is priced similar to the Triton Adventure X, at RM126,990.00++.

Folks, this is basically a Mitsubishi Triton with better options. MMM is bringing out another variant so that buyers can have a choice of what they want as sometimes, a colour choice would make all the difference in making someone buy a car or truck or whatever they fancy. 

The new Triton Athlete gets new Front Bumper Garnish and stickers that mimic Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield design in their other vehicles,  a new Honeycomb Mesh Black Grille, Black 17” Alloy Wheels, a Sports Bar and Dark Grey/ Orange Decals. The Side Step, Door Mirror, Door Handle, Rear Bumper and New Tailgate Spoiler are also black out items making this a very black with bits of orange mixed in here and there.

As for the interior of this new Triton variant, the Triton Athlete gets a New Infotainment System with Apple Car Play for added connectivity. The interior is also mostly a Black Monotone with perforated Orange leather combination and ‘ATHLETE’ embroidery on the seats which match the Orange stitching found on Leather Steering, Leather Gear Knob, Door Trim and Centre Console. Everything keeps to the 'Lots of Black and bits of Orange here and there' theme. 

Other vehicle specs remain the same. The Triton is powered by the now familiar 2.4-litre 4 cylinder MIVEC turbodiesel engine with Variable Valve Timing technology. The turbocharger is a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) unit which makes 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. It is 4WD and is equipped with a 5 speed automatic transmission with manual mode for more driver control when necessary.

Aside from that, the Triton Athlete is equipped with seven SRS airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability with Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Trailer Stability Assists (TSA) and Brake Override System.. The Triton also benefits from Mitsubishi's Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction.

All Triton models sold in Malaysia are imported as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) vehicle from Mitsubishi Motors global production hub in Thailand. All Triton variants except Triton Quest coms with Five years warranty or 200,000km (The basic Triton Quest comes with Five years warranty or 100,000km) whichever comes first.
