New Proton dealers, Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, (Fook Loi) recently opened the first ever Proton flagship 4S Centre. The centre is one which features a total customer experience package - from sales, after sales (service), spares and also paint, or bodyshop services. So you can buy at get everything including accident repairs in one Proton Centre. Great news is that the first ever 4S centre by Proton is over in Sabah.

The Last Overland Expedition Makes a Stop in Kuala Lumpur - From Singapore to London in a 1955 Land Rover Series I Much Like The First One in 1955


The Last Overland expedition by the 1955 Oxford Land Rover from London to Singapore, arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, the 26th of August 2019  after flagging off in Singapore on the 25th of August. This very unique Land Rover expedition team started their journey from Singapore to London on Sunday and it, in some ways traces what could be one of the most historic automotive events of the 20th Century. The team aims to recreate the original 1955 route charted by The Oxford & Cambridge Far Eastern Expedition (The First Overland). And this, is the Last Overland, which basically uses one of the two Land Rover Series I used in the First Overland expedition. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia unveils new brand presence at the Mutiara Damansara Autohaus by Cycle & Carriage Bintang


The adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' does not come across in this case. Mercedes-Benz has not been keeping quiet and now, the brand with the Three Pointed Star has a newly refreshed Autohaus at Cycle & Carriage Bintang's Autohaus in Mutiara Damansara. This features Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's newest brand presence which could actually be setting a new benchmark in the retail industry. It truly is quite an experience just stepping into the new showroom area after its launch yesterday.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is an icon. It brought out the first ever successful formula for what a hot hatch should be. Some argued that it may not have been the first ever hot hatch, but whatever the case, the Golf GTI perfected that formula. That formula you see today is basically a mass production hatchback, most likely front wheel driven that was upgraded with a very powerful engine and suspension to suit. This is what the Golf GTI is to this day. And today's article (and video you see here) is about the latest model - the 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 7.5.

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) Expresses Massive Regret For The Incident At Its Dealer Where The Malaysian Flag Was Flown Upside Down

UMW Toyota released an official statement on the recent debacle where its authorised dealer in Kuantan had flown the Malaysian flag upside down at its dealership. It may have been an accident but many actually raised concern on social media platforms. Of course, flying a nation's flag the wrong side round is indeed an insult. But obviously a multi-national company like Toyota would never have done it intentionally.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) had recently announced the appointment of Mr Kurt Leitner as its new Co-Managing Director. He joins Mr Erik Winter, who is the other Managing Director and replaces Mr Florian Steiner who has taken another posting in Europe after almost four years in Malaysia. 

Motorsport: Team Proton R3 Announces Lady Racers Search and Also the Driver Mentorship programme for race teams competing in the MSF


Recently, the motorsport arm of Proton, Team Proton R3 (R3), announced a search for lady racers and mentorship programme for race teams competing in the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF) series. The two programmes are held in partnership with MSF, who are the largest grassroots motorsports event in the country. Both programmes are aimed to develop motorsports at a grassroots level by leveraging on Proton's motorsport experience throughout the years.

Volvo Trucks Launches Truck Donation & Fund-Raising Initiative To Assist Kechara Soup Kitchen in Assisting Underprivileged Communities


The Malaysian arm of one of the world’s largest heavy-duty truck brands, Volvo Trucks Malaysia recently launched Volvo Trucks' latest corporate social responsibility initiative which comprises of the contribution of a heavy-duty Volvo FM 330 4x2 rigid truck complete with customised body frabrication to the Kechara Soup Kitchen Society (KSK). KSK is a registered and quite a well known non‐profit organisation that provides food sustenance and basic medical care for the homeless and poor communities in Malaysia.

[UPDATE - Perodua has just informed us that they have discovered a few errors/inaccuracies in the 2019 Perodua Axia teaser spec sheet released to you on the morning of 22 August. They are as follows:

1. Incorrect - front corner sensors on all variants except E and G
Correct - front corner sensors are only available on SE and AV

2. Incorrect - G does not have electric side mirrors
Correct - G has electric side mirrors (electrically-adjustable but non-retractable)

3. Incorrect - GXtra, SE, AV and Style variants have automatic retractable electric side mirrors
Correct - GXtra, SE, AV and Style variants have retractable electric side mirrors that do not automatically fold once the engine is turned off (the driver folds the mirrors by pushing a button)

So take note as the photo of the brochure below is the now the new Brochure teaser spec sheet instead of the previous one which I have promptly removed.

Hino Motors Sales Malaysia (Hino Malaysia) recently honoured their esteemed customer GD Express Sdn Bhd (GD Ex), one of Malaysia's leading courier companies a Reliability Certificate commemorating one of GD Ex's trucks which had reached a mileage of 1 million kilometers without the need of an engine overhaul. The ceremony, which we attended was in some ways a celebration towards the reliability of the Hino light duty truck in question as well as GD Ex's part in maintaining the truck.

The All-New 2019 Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup Now Officially Launched in Malaysia - Available in Manual & Automatic Gearboxes


The official distributors of Renault in Malaysia, TC Euro Cars (TCEC) have officially launched the all-new 2019 Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup. This comes after its recent preview to the media as well as to the members of the public sometime in April this year. It comes with both the manual and automatic gearboxes (a first for a Megane R.S. variant) and this official launch coincides with the confirmed pricing for Langkawi (tax break prices) and also for the automatic variant. Prices basically start at RM149K for the manual in Langkawi and RM279K for the Manual for the rest of Malaysia.

Happenings: Team Isuzu Raises Funds For Sarawak Charities by Participating in the Kuching Marathon 2019


Members of Team Isuzu, which included the Isuzu Malaysia CEO, Koji Nakamura had participated in the Kuching Marathon 2019 earlier today (18 August 2019). They had handed over mock cheques of the funds / pledges raised by the team to Hope Place Kuching and Persatuan OKU Kuching at a small ceremony at the event.

Toyota Malaysia Announces Upgrades To The 2019 Toyota Hilux, Fortuner & Innova



UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the distributors for Toyota in Malaysia, has announced that they have made some changes or upgrades to the specifications of the 2019 Toyota Hilux pickup, the 2019 Fortuner SUV and the Innova MPV range of vehicles. All features either feature upgrades or minor enhancements. As for order takings for the new vehicles, it will begin at all authorized Toyota showrooms nationwide from 16 August, 2019.

Proton Has Launched The X70 ME (MERDEKA EDITION) - Limited to 62 Units in Conjunction With Malaysia's 62nd Independence Day


While I was busy trying out the newly facelifted Proton Saga over in Ipoh (stay tuned for that video review folks!), the folks at Proton announced the launch of the limited run Proton X70 ME, or Merdeka Edition. This variant of the very popular SUV is limited to only 62 units and was introduced in conjunction with Malaysia's 62nd Independence Day. 62 units for 62 years of independence. It is priced at RM126,100 and is only available in Snow White and Flame Red colours.
