One of the oldest Automotive blogs in Malaysia. Since 2006 and going strong. Motoring-Malaysia.blogspot.my is an award winning Malaysian motoring / automotive / car news & reviews website or auto blog. It is where we rant and rave about cars, trucks, buses, motoring, motor vehicles and any interesting automotive industry related stuff. Unswayed in our point of view and darn proud of it! It's not about the numbers...it's about passion.

Subaru Car Challenge is back for 2023 - Compete to try win a Subaru XV 2.0i P EyeSight
This six-hour endurance challenge of keeping the palm of you hand on a Subaru without removing it will be held at the Plaza Arkadia Kuala Lumpur. The top five contestants will be able take one step closer to owning a brand-new Subaru XV when they compete against contestants from the Asian region in Singapore on November 4 to 5, 2023. This could mean at least keeping that palm on a Subaru for around 20 or more hours so that you can win that Subaru.

Scania has started sales of battery electric truck in this region. The Battery electric trucks have been introduced for customers’ regional operations to meet their Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. Last Thursday, I attended the first preview for Malaysian customers at Scania Malaysia Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam where we got to see a battery electric Scania truck which will be used in Singapore for garbage collection (which actually suit electric trucks are they offer practical use for stop-start collection for last mile delivery or collection as well as being quieter than any internal combustion engined truck)..[UPDATE - Video of the preview is HERE]

Porsche Asia Pacific and Shell to Implement EV Charging Network Between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang
Porsche Asia Pacific and Shell have jointly announced the implementation of Southeast Asia’s first cross-border high performance charging (HPC) network with 12 charge points at six Shell stations strategically located along Malaysia’s North-South highway, offering EV drivers the possibility of smooth and convenient travel between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang. Six Shell stations in Malaysia will soon offer high performance direct-current chargers capable of charging EVs such as the all-electric Porsche Taycan at up to 180 kW. The new high-performance chargers redefine EV charging with an assurance of speed and range
The partnership essentially demonstrates the commitment between Porsche and Shell to drive the future of electric mobility in Southeast Asia by spearheading connectivity between the two countries, which handle one of the world’s busiest international land border crossings at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Woodlands Checkpoint. Of course, this will happen when borders are open again post pandemic lockdowns and all.

Some off topic ramblings for you guys to ponder on.
So since the school holidays have officially started my family and I decided to take a short break down south to Singapore. I tend to do this often and three hour drives to do so are common. Why I end up there is basically because you can get a whole lot of stuff there which you can't get here. And the motoring scene in Singapore can be pretty vibrant too. Even with the most expensive car prices in the world do not stop them from enjoying them from buying cars they like. I suppose where there's a need, there's a way. In short, they work bloody hard and smart to get what they want. I don't hear most of the population bitch and whine most of the time. They do, but they still carry on with what needs to be done. And do note....they are disciplined 95% of the time in doing so. Compare this to us - we break traffic laws in city driving almost all the time. No signalling at turns, going down the wrong way on one way streets in neighbourhood commercial areas, no giving way to others in traffic, not wearing your seatbelts most of the time and carrying babies in your laps. This does not happen down south okay. Discipline on the roads helps. It is also carried on in other aspects of life. If you do not have some self control, you will be a poor person. And don't blame others for your laziness and stupidity.

Some Photographs and A Few Interesting Postings on MyAutoBlog by Yours Truly.....
Hello again. I have been pretty busy travelling around the Peninsular recently. I made a 2 trips down South. One to Muar, Johor and one more to the Lion City for a change of air. I basically went to someplace a little more hectic but surprisingly more organized than Kuala Lumpur, so it was good.
The 'murtabak singapore' at Zam Zam and at Victory next door ( both pictured above) is nice on a Sunday morning, or for lunch or for dinner.
Oh yes. Check out this little Suzy. It is smaller than a Jimny SJ413. But it has chunky off-road tires, taller suspension and all the off-road goodies. I wonder if this little car does leave the island for off-road jaunts in Malaysia.
Now I've not been quiet on the writing front. I have been writing new pieces for MyAutoBlog.org.
The following are some that I think are worthy to share in here...........................
1. The Beacham Jaguar MkII. You now don't have to send that Jag of yours for a modernization in the UK anymore. Click here to read the article.
2. Gordon Murray's T25. A nice small car concept. I like small cars. The original Mini is one of my favourite drives and so was my 2nd Gen Honda Civic. Of course, this is smaller than my Civic, and smaller slightly than the Mini. Go here to see some pics and a writeup about it.
3. Drive a black car? Some more useless research conducted by people who want grants from the government or to show that they are doing something with taxpayer's money at all those Institutes of Higher Learning.
4. The next Suzy Swift is out. Check out how much it doesn't differ here. It may be longer, wider and taller, but it stays the same.
5.Late night shopping at Mustafa's in Little India, Singapore, a Toyota with a Subaru Scoop (even in Singapore we get mods like this) and an old W124 wagon plying the streets of Singapore at night. They don't throw out their old stuff all the time if you know what I mean. Click here for this.
