The All-New Renault Megane R.S Finally Makes it to Malaysia - To be on Sale Later this Year

The fouth generation Renault Megane R.S. was finally previewed here in Malaysia. Renault Sport's latest ultimate hot hatch is based on the Megane hatchback with a lot of magic sprinkled on it. It was first offered on sale in 2018 over in Europe and it will be launched here later this year. For Malaysia, we will be offered the more cooking Cup chassis in both the manual transmission as well as the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic transmission.

Here is a video of the launch as well as the presentation on the car

Prices for both variants, on the road, without insurance in fully imported (CBU) form are as follows:
For the Manual, Peninsular Malaysia RM279,888, Langkawi RM178,800
For the EDC, the estimated prices are RM299,888 and RM186,800 for Langkawi
There will be an additional RM1,000 for Pearl White and RM8,000 for Orange Tonic and Liquid Yellow.

The All-new Renault MEGANE R.S. comes with a three-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first) and is supported by all 18 authorised Renault Service Centres in Peninsular Malaysia.

If you are interested to view the car in the next few days, it will be on public preview at East Atrium, Mid Valley Megamall on 24 – 28 April 2019. Furthermore, the Malaysian distributors of Renault, TC Euro Cars have announced that the first 10 customers to book the All-new Renault MEGANE R.S. before 31May 2019 will enjoy anall-expense paid trip to France, including a money-cannot-buy experience to the Renault Sport facility in Dieppe, France.

Test drives will be available at Renault’s Petaling Jaya showroom from August 2019 onwards with the manual transmission only for the moment so if you are one of those that cannot shift by yourself, you should learn. Those interested in a test drive are able to make a request in advance via renault.com.my.

Anyway, some basic details ...... the 2019 Renault Megane R.S is equipped with Renault’s 4CONTROL four-wheel steering system. This ensures extra agility through tight turns and impressive cornering stability at higher speeds. It is powered by a new 1.8liter 4 cylinder direct injected turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection. It may seem small compared to the 2.0liter it the third generation Megane R.S, but this highly tuned 1.8liter engine makes 280PS at 6,000rpm with peak torque of 390Nm, which makes it very competitive in its class. 0-100kmh in 'CUP' form is in 5.8seconds.

The new Megane R.S is an interesting car visually, the current Renault styling cues are all in the new lights with its curved Daytime Running Lights. It also adds more visual appeal with its wider arches compared to the normal Megane variant, including the GT, which seems very tame after looking at this Renault Sport model.

One other change aside from the availability of the EDC gearbox is the fact that the new Megane R.S comes in a 5 door body styling rather than the previous generation 3 door hatchback styling. I suppose this has to do with keeping production costs down and have a more efficient production line. These days, manufacturers need to keep things lean for the long run. Not that I am complaining, the car still looks very visually appealing.

Inside, like the previous Megane R.S models, the seats seem to take a center stage, but like the current crop of Renaults, a large center console touchscreen dominates the middle part of the dash and centre console. It features a complete infotainment system which you can use to control many aspects of the new Megane R.S.
