Hino Motors Sales Malaysia (Hino Malaysia) recently honoured their esteemed customer GD Express Sdn Bhd (GD Ex), one of Malaysia's leading courier companies a Reliability Certificate commemorating one of GD Ex's trucks which had reached a mileage of 1 million kilometers without the need of an engine overhaul. The ceremony, which we attended was in some ways a celebration towards the reliability of the Hino light duty truck in question as well as GD Ex's part in maintaining the truck.
The Hino light duty truck in the photos is proof of Hino's product philosophy, which is Driving Quality, Durability or in short, HINO QDR. According to Hino and GD Ex, the truck has been in operation since 2006 and it caters both long and line haul routes in the Ayer Keroh, Melaka region as well as some Southen region zones. So 10 years of constant use and 1,000,000km is definitely a testament to the reliability of the truck and its keeping to the maintenance schedule.
The truck has always kept to its scheduled maintenance schedule at an authorised service center and it has also used genuine Hino spare parts throughout its million km lifespan. According to Atsushi Uchiyama, the Managing Director of Hino Malaysia, the light duty truck in question is one that was originally designed for both light and heavy duty work as well as for long haul use. The truck also addresses every business owner's concern of reliability.
The event was ever so slightly special as the handover of the momento and certificate of reliability was presented by Hino Motor Limited's Chairman, Mr Yasuhiko Ichihashi (above, right) who was in Malaysia for a short visit. The event also saw the a small t-shirt handover ceremony where, En. Zul Amali, the GD Ex driver of the 1 million km truck was presented with a t-shirt bearing the 1 million km figure.
Like any piece of machinery, it is also the touch of the operator, in this case, the driver of the truck which also ensures the well being of such a machine. So service your vehicle regularly, use authorised spare parts and make sure your driver is good too and you too can see your truck reach 1 million kilometers reliably.
