Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) Kurt Leitner as its Managing Director,

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) had recently announced the appointment of Mr Kurt Leitner as its new Co-Managing Director. He joins Mr Erik Winter, who is the other Managing Director and replaces Mr Florian Steiner who has taken another posting in Europe after almost four years in Malaysia.

L to R - Erik Winter & Kurt Leitner

Mr. Leitner will essentially be replacing Florian Steiner's position and will have a dual-role as Managing Director in Malaysia and Singapore like Mr Steiner. Having met Mr Steiner on many occasion here in Malaysia, I would personally wish him well in his future undertakings. Now back in Europe, he most likely will be tackling a different sort of challenge within the Porsche Holding Salzburg Group (which runs and manages VPCM).

As for the new Managing Director to VPCM, Mr Kurt Leitner is an industry veteran. He has been with the Porsche Holding Salzburg group since 1988 and has held various management positions within the network, including Managing Director at Porsche Romania for four years, General Manager at Porsche Chile and PGA Ellada (Which we all know better as the country Greece), as well as CEO of Porsche Finance Group Romania.

“I am very excited to be in this part of the region, living both in Malaysia and Singapore and working with people from different cultures and backgrounds. This will be a new journey and learning experience for me and I hope to make the most of it during my time here” said Leitner.

Leitner will focus on human resources, information technology and finance while Winter will continue to helm VPCM’s sales, aftersales, dealer network and marketing operations in the same way his precedessor did.

“Mr Leitner is a great addition to the management team as he has an abundance of automotive retail and finance experience. Malaysia’s automotive scene is fast paced, and I believe that he will fit right in,” added Winter.

Both Managing Directors of VPCM are confident that the Volkswagen brand in Malaysia will continue to grow, amidst the highly competitive automotive landscape in Malaysia. This is also because of the current sales and aftersales enhancesment under the Volkswagen brand as well as the upcoming launches we will see in the next few months.
