Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd Officially Opens Proton Flagship 4S centre in Kota Kinabalu

New Proton dealers, Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, (Fook Loi) recently opened the first ever Proton flagship 4S Centre. The centre is one which features a total customer experience package - from sales, after sales (service), spares and also paint, or bodyshop services. So you can buy at get everything including accident repairs in one Proton Centre. Great news is that the first ever 4S centre by Proton is over in Sabah.

The official opening of the new 4S centre was officiated by the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd. Shafie bin Haji Apdal with Dr. Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of Proton, Directors of Fook Loi and senior management members of Proton

Fook Loi are one of Proton's latest dealers. One of the reasons Fook Loi decided to become a Proton dealer was of the brand's performance under the new management. Thomas Chiu Kui Yin, Group Executive Director of Fook Loi, the decision to become a PROTON dealer was an easy one to make.

Thomas said, “Deciding to become a PROTON dealer was not difficult because we see the potential for PROTON in Sabah. The current range of Proton models is highly competitive and technologically advanced with features that appeal to the new generation of car buyers”.

According to Proton, early in its rebranding efforts, the company realised that in order to capture and expand its consumer base, it needed to have sufficient outlets to cater to their needs. Ideally, outlets would be spacious, comfortable, pleasing to the eye and have facilities to keep customers happy like free WiFi, a kids’ corner, ample parking space and a coffee area. The outlet would have well trained sales and service staff who can provide a high quality customer experience. These factors are what the new management team believed would pull Proton through aside from having a strong product portfolio.

“These may seem like simple requirements, but they are critical ones. When customers walk into our showroom or service centre, they would like to be greeted by smiling faces and a beautifully lit area. This will then set the tone for more meaningful conversations and customers will feel welcomed and appreciated. Since outlets are our first point of contact, numerous steps have been taken to ensure that a wholesome experience starts here. These efforts have paid off. Our sales have been on an increasing trend and with our new products, we are confident that we are on track for the company’s return to profitability,” said Dr Li Chunrong during the launch event.

Now, with the excellent sales performance over the past three months, it is actually quite a tactical move that Proton had done since 2018, which was to revamp all sales and service outlets. Now, these upgraded and new centres are capable to cater to the extra volume of cars that require servicing. What also sells cars these days is the quality of after sales. And it does seem that the push to up the quality of aftersales is a good move indeed. We most likely will see more of this 4S centres in the near future as those that have not upgraded would definited be keen to do so going by the performance of Proton.
