Perodua delivers its 10,000th Bezza, total bookings since launch is now at 25,000 units

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dr Zahari Husin (right) hands over the mock key to the lucky Pn Zetty Aswani Fazwin Mahrol Puthil (second from left) as a symbolic of 10,000th Bezza delivery.

It looks like the Perodua Bezza A segment sedan is a runaway success for Perodua. It has delivered its 10,000th Bezza to Puan Zetty Aswani Fazwin Mahrol Puthil, 28 of Shah Alam. The lady must have been surprised as Perodua held quite a grand event for the handover of her Bezza. It was even attended by Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Anyway, Perodua has amassed a total of 25,000 bookings since the order books were opened on the 16th of July 2016. A record number for such a short period of time. Of the 10,000 Perodua Bezza units sold and on the road to date; 44% are from the 1.3L Advanced Version (Automatic Transmission), 43% are from the Premium X 1.3L (Automatic Transmission), 3% from the Premium X 1,3L (Manual Transmission), 9% from the Perodua Bezza 1.0L (Automatic Transmission) and 1% from the Perodua Bezza 1.0L (Manual Transmission).

It seems that Malaysians like the higher specced models from the look of things. The Perodua Bezza price ranges from RM37,300 for its 1.0L standard G (Manual transmission) to RM50,800 for its 1.3L Advanced variant (Automatic Transmission).

For the first 7 months of the year, Perodua sold 112,500 units, which accounts for about 35.4% of the total industry volume of 317,900 vehicles (this year there is a quite a visible drop in terms of overall volume to date). They have also said that sales for the Perodua Axia (essentially the Bezza hatchback but only in 1.0liter form) and the larger Perodua Myvi hatchback are also going strong.

I do believe that most of the Malaysian public are now into buying Perodua during this period of economic uncertainty where many are now buying more affordable vehicles that are of reputable build and quality. Perodua has this in spades. They build simple, fuel efficient and robust cars down to a certain price point.

People seem to want that over actual personality, character or performance as they want to buy the best their Ringgit can offer them. Those that were looking to buy over RM80,000 may actually have their sights lower, and so on. Kudos to Perodua for having a product line up that caters to the needs of many.
