Today was a very wet and gloomy Tuesday morning for most parts of the Klang Valley. But over at the Edaran Tan Chong Nissan Showroom in Glenmarie it was all bright and happy as someone was handed over the key to a brand new Nissan Almera 1.5VL with a NISMO Aerokit. Mohd Shafiq Saipollah, who visited the My Auto Fest show to get the best deal on a pick–up truck got more than he bargained for when he emerged as the winner in the “Buy a Car, Win a Car” grand prize lucky draw.

So what this basically shows you is that spending money can make more money, or get you a car that costs money. Mohd Shafiq went to visit the My Auto Fest 2016, booked and bought a Ford Ranger worth at least RM100,000 (loan aside) from Sime Darby Auto Connexion and was therefore entitled to a lucky draw, to which he was then entitled to participate in the "Buy a Car, Win a Car" lucky draw. He won the grand prize. A Nissan Almera NISMO (Nissan, Malaysia Only, as I like to call it) bodykit equipped one at that. Not the car of my dreams, but hey, its FREE! Free! I tell you! A free car is a good car!!!!
My Auto Fest 2016 which was held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre was quite popular with the general public. It was organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) together with its stakeholders to drum up more sales during this current slowdown in overall sales in the automotive industry.
From what I have heard, MAA is keen to organise one more sales oriented auto show in the very near future. We will keep you readers informed as to when this will happen.

“Buy a car, Win a car” contest winner drives home a Nissan Almera 1.5VL with NISMO Aerokit worth RM82,000
pick–up truck got more than he bargained for when he emerged as the winner of a
brand new Nissan Almera 1.5VL with NISMO Aerokit worth RM82,000 in the “Buy a
Car, Win a Car” grand prize lucky draw.
Winning the Nissan Almera 1.5VL is an added bonus for Mohd Shafiq Saipollah, who
had booked a Ford Ranger at the Sime Darby Auto Connexion booth during the My
Auto Fest show, and registered it a week later.
“It’s unbelievable and a lovely surprise. I had no thoughts about winning the Nissan
Almera when I filled in the booking form for the Ford Ranger,” said Saipollah, a 31-
year old engineer at the Police Airwing unit of the RMAF base in Sungei Besi, Kuala
Lumpur.
“Now there shall no longer be any arguments between my wife and me. She had
wanted to buy a passenger car and I was looking out for a pick-up truck to help out
my brother in his food truck business”.
Saipollah was presented the keys to his brand new Nissan Almera 1.5VL with
NISMO Aerokit, at a prize-giving ceremony held at the Edaran Tan Chong Motor
showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, today.
Datuk Aishah Ahmad, President, Malaysian Automotive Association and Organising
Chairman of My Auto Fest 2016, together with Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng, Executive
Director, Edaran Tan Chong Motor, officiated at the prize giving ceremony.
Visitors had the opportunity to view over 100 new cars during the My Auto Fest show
held from 20 – 22 May at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre,
and scout for a car deal that suited their choice and budget.
“This was our inaugural show and the car companies went all out to offer excellent
deals and discounts at this sales-oriented show, as well as bringing in some latest
models for exclusive preview,” said Datuk Aishah Ahmad.
“Entrance was free and many of the visitors came as family groups specifically to
shop for cars.
“One of the highlights at the show was the “Buy a Car, Win a Car” contest where
visitors who placed their bookings on a new passenger car stood a chance to win a
RM82,000 Nissan Almera 1.5VL with NISMO Aerokit as a grand lucky draw prize,”
said Datuk Aishah.
All booking forms were collected from participating companies on 22 May, the last
night of My Auto Fest.
The winner of the “Buy a Car, Win a Car” contest was randomly selected from the
pool of participants by the President of the Malaysian Automotive Association, in the
presence of the Organising Committee and an external audit firm representative.
The sporty Nissan Almera 1.5VL is Nissan’s best selling model in the country. The
sedan is much loved for its value-for- money and thoughtful practicality with updated
innovative features including push start ignition and intelligent key with immobiliser
and automatic climate control.
