National car manufacturer PROTON has announced that some of its 3S and 2S service centres will be operating throughout the week including Sundays effective 6th August 2016. This is part of Proton's Customer First initiative that aims to improve its after sales services. It also announced a price drop in selected parts which is also a very, very good thing!
When Proton started the 7 days operation at selected service outlets it was to only able to accommodate normal servicing and opening hours were only until 12 noon on Sunday. But now, these selected service centres have extended the opening hours for Sunday up to 5 pm. More importantly, Proton have also enabled warranty claims to be processed during weekends as opposed to only weekdays previously.
The 7 day operation in these selected service centres is aimed at reducing customer waiting time by providing added flexibility for the customers who may have busy schedules. The ability to claim warranty issues over the weekend is going to help many time strapped customers who need their Proton cars for carrying out their daily routine on workdays/weekdays. I have to praise the chaps at Proton for coming up with this initiative which would clearly benefit its customers. Time is of the essence they say. This helps.
The first stage will commence on 6 August 2016, 9 service centres will be providing the 7 full-day services inclusive of repairs and warranty claims. The 9 service centres identified are in Plentong, Johor Bahru; Peringgit, Melaka; Senawang, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan; Temerloh, Pahang; Alor Setar, Kedah; Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Ipoh, Perak; Juru, Seberang Prai, Penang; Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya and our Centre of Excellence here in Subang, Selangor.
The second part would be from 1 October 2016, where an additional 14 service centres will follow suit and after that date, 4 more service centres to start 7 day operations from 1 December 2016. The business hours for all these outlets are from 8 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Sundays and to ensure availability of service slots, customers are advised to make an appointment at these outlets. Walk-ins are always welcome according to Proton. But going by experience, make a booking (Do refer to the tables below in the press release for details). These outlets have been identified based on demand and requirement in the identified outlets. However, we will continue to review and expand our extended services should there be a requirement to do so.
In addition to the news above, Proton also states that effective 1 August 2016, PROTON has implemented price revisions for selected parts such as the turbocharger, ECU and transmission assemblies. The review of the parts prices is to encourage our customers to use genuine parts that should be installed at all authorised service centres and ultimately assist in improving the cost of ownership for Proton cars. The parts involved in the price review will see about 12%-30% reduction in parts prices.
So now you basically can service your Proton in any day of the week, claim your warranty in any day of the week and if you need to purchase parts for cars out of warranty, it is now actually more affordable from an authorised Proton Service Centre.
The new management is definitely pushing for better after sales satisfaction ratings. No doubt about it.
