UMW Toyota Motor’s Pre-owned Vehicle Division is Rebranded as Toyota TopMark

UMW Toyota Motor’s Pre-Owned Vehicle division will be rebranded as Toyota TopMark from this month onwards. According to UMW Toyota Motors, who are the official distributors of Toyota here, the move reflects the new focus on offering quality Toyota Certified Pre-Owned cars and Hybrid cars. The pre-owned vehicles division of UMW Toyota was established way back in 2000 and it has been one of the strengths of the company since then.

The Volkswagen Fest 2017 is happening this weekend. I was there yesterday and here are some of the photos I took. It is on till tomorrow, the 13th of August 2017 and it is held on the grounds of the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam. It is something that would be a memorable experience if you like viewing old, classic Volkswagen cars like the Beetle, Kombi and even the Karmann Ghia. And then, there are the sales bargains too.

In conjunction with the Volkswagen Fest 2017 (which is ongoing till this sunday, 13th of August) as well as the upcoming 60th Merdeka (Independence) Day celebrations here in Malaysia, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has introduced the limited edition Volkswagen Beetle 60th Merdeka Edition. This is one of two limited edition Volkswagen launched at the Fest, the other being the Volkswagen Jetta ALLSTAR.

250,000th Axia is presented to a teacher from Pulau Langkawi

This is a small bit of news that I'd like to share. It may have already been picked up by other local automotive websites but it is interesting in some way in terms of the automotive industry here in Malaysia. Perodua has sold 250,000 Axia compact city cars to date and counting since it was launched in 2014. And going strong. It could already be 255,000 by the time I finish typing this article.

New Mercedes-Benz MBSA Autohaus Officially Opens for Business in the Historical City of Melaka

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia continues its quest to enhance its customer touchpoints in Malaysia with the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz MBSA Autohaus in Melaka. This new, albeit temporary Autohaus is operated by dealer partners MBSA Autohaus Sdn Bhd. This Autohaus was completed with an investment of RM1.2 million and will be the only Mercedes-Benz Autohaus in Melaka. 

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Announces Field Fix Campaign for Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed, ASX Compact SUV & Pajero Sport

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has announced that there is a Field Fix Campaign for the Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed, ASX Compact SUV and the Pajero Sport. In not so many words, this is a recall notice to all owners of the vehicles mentioned to get their cars looked at and fixed. The Pajero Exceed needs a replacement of its airbag inflators (most likely caused by TAKATA), the ASX & Pajero Sport for a replacement of the tailgate gas strut and the ASX (below) again for the wiper motor casing.

Hyundai Tucson 2.0L CRDI Diesel is Launched - Completes the Malaysian Hyundai Tucson Line-up

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors, the official distributor of Hyundai in Malaysia has launched the Hyundai Tucson 2.0L CRDI Diesel. This comes just a few weeks after the launch of the Tucson 1.6 Turbo GDI petrol variant and it somehow completes the engine variants of the Tucson here. We now get the 2.0 normally aspirated petrol, the 1.6 turbo petrol and this 2.0 turbo diesel version. Something from everyone at a lower price as now all Tucson variants sold in Malaysia come with the tax lowering Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status.

A celebration of all things Volkswagen is coming to town. Well, coming to Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam on the 11th of August to the 13th of August 2017 to be exact. The event is called the Volkswagen Fest 2017 and it is organised by the authorised distributors of Volkswagen cars here, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM). This is the first of its kind here in Malaysia (with official representation) and VPCM will also be launching two new special edition cars there - the Volkswagen Jetta ALLSTAR and the Volkswagen Beetle 60th Merdeka Edition, a special Malaysia only Beetle made in conjunction with the country's 60th year of independence. 

MICHELIN at the Scania Driver Competitions South East Asia 2016-2017

The Scania Driver Competitions South East Asia 2016-2017 concluded recently and we've still got some stuff to mentioned about it. This time, we focus a little on Michelin Malaysia, who had returned as the Official Tyre Sponsor of the event. The competition finals, held over at MAEPS in Serdang, had 17 truck and bus drivers from all over South East Asia competing to see who is the best among them. Truck & Bus: The Inaugural Scania Driver Competitions South East Asia 2016-2017 - Top Scania Drivers From Around The Region Compete Against One Another

The final round of the inaugural Scania Driver Competitions South East Asia 2016-2017 (SDC) was held recently at MAEPS, in Serdang and saw some stiff competition between 19 Scania truck and bus drivers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore. This is the first SDC that is truly regional as prior to this, it was only a Malaysia and Singapore affair. This makes things pretty interesting with added competitors and a chance to be crowned regional champion!
