The final round of the inaugural Scania Driver Competitions South East Asia 2016-2017 (SDC) was held recently at MAEPS, in Serdang and saw some stiff competition between 19 Scania truck and bus drivers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore. This is the first SDC that is truly regional as prior to this, it was only a Malaysia and Singapore affair. This makes things pretty interesting with added competitors and a chance to be crowned regional champion!

Motoring-Malaysia.blogspot.my is an award winning Malaysian motoring / automotive / car news & reviews website or auto blog. It is where we rant and rave about cars, trucks, buses, motoring, motor vehicles and any interesting automotive industry related stuff. Unswayed in our point of view and darn proud of it! Truck News: Scania's Heavy Haulage Truck, the Scania R580 finds its first customer in Malaysia - Tiong Nam Heavy Transport and Lifting Sdn Bhd
Truck spotters in Malaysia take note. This is the first time someone has bought Scania's latest heavy haulage truck, the Scania R580, or to be really exact, the Scania R580 CA6X4 EHZ. A mouthful. But a very performance packed mouthful. Tiong Nam Heavy Transport and Lifting Sdn Bhd (TNHTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of public-listed Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Berhad, has received delivery of a R580 CA6X4 EHZ Torque Converter / Heavy Hauler truck from Scania Malaysia that will add a heavy boost to its logistic services.

I was recently invited to do some coverage at the Sweeden-Malaysia Innovation Day 2015 ministerial level round-table discussion here in MIDA, Kuala Lumpur a few days ago. There I witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Swedish manufacturer Scania and the Malaysia Innovation Agency (AIM). The MoU's purpose is the collaboration by the Malaysian Government, via AIM and Scania to explore viable commercial opportunities for biofuels from municipal waste in Malaysia in line with Malaysia's National Biomass Strategy 2020 (NBS 2020).Scania was represented by the Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström, and AIM, represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mark Rozario.
Now biofuels turn waste into clean energy, increase security of fuel supply and improve local economies, help create local job opportunities and industrial development. The collaboration study includes identification of possible project locations, price and market demand projections and economic and operational feasibility. Scania has the technology to catalyse this project as it has been one of the main contributors to the development and adaptation of biofuels, developing and producing commercial biofuel-based transport solutions for over 20 years in Sweden and in around the world.

Truck and Bus News: MIROS PARTNERS SCANIA AGAIN TO PROMOTE SAFE DRIVING

Which is why well-trained and well behaved drivers are aware of the importance of being safe drivers will practice whenever they are behind the wheel.
One of the agencies in Malaysia that studies and promotes this is the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), they are returning for the second time as a partner to the upcoming 2014/2015 Scania Driver Competitions (SDC) which will be held in October this year.
