The 2019 Perodua Myvi is Launched in Mauritius - One of Perodua's Oldest Export Markets Now Gets The Malaysian Best Seller!

The 2019 Perodua Myvi is now being sold in Mauritius. Perodua's distributor in Mauritus, Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd, have launched the Myvi 1.3 G AT and 1.5 H AT variants and they are respectively priced at 699,000 (RM81,300*) and 775,000 (RM90,140*) Mauritian Rupees, on-the-road with insurance. The third generation Perodua Myvi made its Mauritian debut last Friday at the Defi Media Motor Show, which took place at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre over the weekend.

Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean. The island nation is one of Perodua’s oldest overseas markets where they have sold nearly 2,400 cars there since 1996. Perodua cars exported to Mauritus include the Kancil, Rusa, Kembara, Kenari, Kelisa, first- and second-generation Myvi, Viva.  Currently, the Alza, Axia and Bezza are also sold there aside from this newly launched Myvi.  Mauritius is the third-generation Myvi’s third export market after Indonesia (sold as the Daihatsu Sirion) and Singapore.

“The third-generation Perodua Myvi has been very well-received in Malaysia and we believe Mauritians will appreciate its many qualities,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

The success of the Perodua Myvi here can be put to the affordable pricing, good equipment levels, reliability as well as having good fuel economy. The 2019 Myvi has a rated fuel efficiency in excess of 20 km/l and holds a maximum five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

According to Dato' Zainal, Perodua aims to export 3,270 cars in 2019. This is a 50% increase over last year’s 2,184 units. So far, Perodua have sold over 1,600 units outside Malaysia in 2019 and they recently launched the Myvi and Axia in Singapore and the Seychelles respectively.

“The Myvi’s Mauritian debut should edge us closer to our year-end export target and boost Perodua’s brand exposure internationally, what with Mauritius being a major tourist destination,” added Dato' Zainal.

Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd Managing Director Mr Raouf Dusmohamud was positive about the car's local acceptance. He said, “With LED headlamps, keyless entry and start, Bluetooth, four or six airbags and stability control standard on both variants, the new Myvi is a very sophisticated and advanced product that Mauritians can truly get excited about."

“Plus, we’re sweetening the ownership package for our valued customers by offering free servicing up to 30,000 km with every Myvi purchase, which we are now also extending to all the other Perodua models in our current line-up, namely the Alza, Axia and Bezza,” Added Raouf when asked about the value added benefits of owning a Myvi in Mauritius.

It does seem that Perodua is slowly and surely picking up its pace in terms of exports. Like how they do things here in Malaysia, the compact car manufacturer seems to prefer carefully planned steps. Right now they are targeting smaller markets, but those that may provide long term benefits in terms of branding - places like Mauritius, Seychelles are tourist nations in some ways and this would actually put the brand on the map. It has its benefits being in beautiful island nations like these.
