2019 PORSCHE MACAN S PRODUCT SUMMARY (with more photos at the end)

The compact SUV redefining sportiness gets a powerful addition to the Porsche family, with the launch of the Macan S in Malaysia, in conjunction with the first Sportscar Together Day in the country. Featuring a new three-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine, the increase of 14 hp and 20 Nm translates to 354 hp and a maximum torque of 480 Nm for the new Macan S, as compared to its predecessor. With a top speed of 254 km/h and its high level of safety and driver assistance systems, the Macan S is able to transition between performance and comfort-orientated driving with ease.

The new Macan S enjoys all the product innovations of the latest generation Macan model range, including the LED lightbar at the rear and a lighting system that features full LED technology as standard, offering a high level of safety and everything needed to quench the owner’s thirst for thrilling experiences to a greater extent than ever before.

“The Macan S promises more power, more precision and better handling than before. Regardless of performance or comfort-oriented style of driving, customers can rest assured they will be treated to a class-leading Porsche experience, for both the driver and passengers of the Macan S,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

Higher performance, responsiveness and efficiency with its central turbo layout
Not only does the Porsche Macan S feature a newly developed three-litre V6 turbo engine, its latest twin-scroll turbocharger is arranged inside the cylinder V, implementing a “central turbo layout”. With shortened exhaust paths between the combustion chambers and the turbocharger for outstanding and immediate responsiveness, the central turbo layout results in higher performance, providing high torque at low engine speeds.

Boasting a built-in exhaust manifold in the cylinder head, the exhaust manifold saves weight and can be water-cooled, hence increasing efficiency at higher loads. The incorporation of these new technologies will make a noticeable decrease in the vehicle’s real fuel consumption despite increase in the power output per litre from 113 to 118 hp.

Better precision and handling with more optimised chassis
The new driving dynamics deliver more agility for corners, yet greater stability for the highway. The Macan’s chassis, featuring staggered tyres and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) four-wheel drive boosts the compact SUV’s dynamic driving properties, further highlighting the model’s distinctive sportiness. Aluminium spring forks replace its predecessor’s steel components on the front axle while the new light alloy design is more rigid and reduces unsprung mass for better precision steering and improved ride comfort. The Porsche Active Stability Management (PASM) active damper control system, which has been modified to adapt to the new model’s features, the height-adjustable air suspension with optimised rolling pistons and new shock absorber hydraulics and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) are optionally available to improve the model’s driving dynamics and handling even further.

With these improvements, the Macan S achieves a performance that not only enables a sporty driving style, but also offers considerable safety reserves. Its broad spread of torque distribution and active hang-on all-wheel drive offers huge advantages in terms of driving dynamics, agility, traction control and offroad capabilities.

Dynamic braking performance with more precise pressure point
With more power and better driving performance comes more responsibility. For this very reason, significant emphasis was placed on the development of the brakes for the Macan S. Noticeably different in the form of a changed pedal feel and a more immediate brake response, the driver can feel a very precise pressure point because of the firm connection between the pedal and the brake master cylinder via a shortened lever arm. Larger front brake discs, with disc diameter increased by 10 mm to 360 mm, and disc thickness growing 2 mm to 36 mm, with the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), positively influencing the driving dynamics of the vehicle, gives the new Macan S an even more sporty approach.

A more streamlined design with full LED lights and new digital functions
The Macan S also benefits from all the innovations included in the latest facelift, including a three-dimensional rear LED lightbar, as incorporated in all its recently unveiled models. The headlights are LED as standard, and the optional Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) system can be used to control light distribution adaptively.

The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM), which now features a 10.9-inch full-HD touchscreen, includes mobile phone connection, two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control for a more seamless connection between the driver and the car.

New options: GT sports steering wheel and ioniser
Exuding sportiness in its exterior, the interior design of the Macan S follows suit. The optional GT sports steering wheel, which appears in the 911, bolsters the sportiness in the interior of the Macan S. The mode switch integrated into the steering wheel – including the Sport Response button – is part of the optional Sport Chrono Package. The optional ioniser coupled with the fine particulate air filter fitted as standard, helps to reduce irritating harmful particles and germs for better quality of air inside the vehicle, enabling the driver and passengers of the Macan S to experience a level of comfort synonymous with Porsche standards.

Combining performance and comfort in a harmonious balance, the Macan S is the perfect vehicle for adventure hungry people who lead active lives, thanks to its agile handling and dynamic response.

Macan S: Fuel consumption combined 8.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 204 g/km
