Earlier today, I attended Mercedes-Benz Malaysia preview of four new higher end of their range vehicles at its Luxury Showcase event held at NZ Wheels in the upper scale Bangsar/Telawi area. The Dream Cars showcase is actually on from the 3 rd to 7 th of April 2024 at NZ Wheels Bangsar. The showcase offers customers a unique and exclusive Mercedes-Benz experience, complete with test drive opportunities of many Mercedes-Benz dream cars (we saw the latest SL parked outside as an example). The fourth Kawasaki All-Star showroom in Malaysia opens in Johor Bahru

 Edaran Modenas Sdn. Bhd. (EMOS), the wholly owned subsidiary of Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn. Bhd. (MODENAS) celebrated the successful launch of its fourth All-Star showroom, Kawasaki Johor Bahru (KJB)on the 30th of March 2024. The opening ceremony was officiated by Qbee Ng, Director of Kawasaki Johor Bahru together with MODENAS Chief Executive Officer Roslan Roskan, and Chief Marketing Officer George Kashiwagi. EMOS is the distribution arm of MODENAS.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke states EV Road Tax may be confirmed by April 2024 and special number plates for EV vehicles too

Yesterday, at the GAC and TC Warisan MOU signing ceremony for the study of local assembly in Malaysia of GAC vehicles with a view towards exports including left hand drive exports - the article is HERE, the Malaysian Transport Minister, the Honourable Anthony Loke had also stated some significant points pertaining to the ownership of electric vehicles (EV) here in Malaysia. Road tax for EV cars is still being studied but a result should be given by the Ministry of Transport by April 2024. According to the minister, they are studying to make the EV road tax lower than what it is and lower than fossil fuel powered vehicles (if possible).

WTC Automotif and GAC Motor International have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to initiate feasibility studies for two new completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle assembly projects in Malaysia

Yesterday, while most Malaysian were doing their shopping for the upcoming Id celebrations, WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, and GAC Motor International Co., Ltd. (GAC Motor International) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to initiate feasibility studies for two new completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle assembly projects in Malaysia. The signing is a start for local assembly for GAC vehicles, namely the study into CKD production of the right-hand drive GAC EMKOO for the Malaysian market and the left-hand drive GAC GS3 EMZOOM, destined for export to Vietnam. The event was witnessed by the Malaysian Transport Minister, The Honourable Anthony Loke.

PROTON have a new 2024 Hari Raya tearjerker short film out featuring the Proton S70 and an appearance by the Proton Edar CEO inside it - PROTON X Little Joe 2024 Syurgaku

PROTON premiered their latest Hari Raya short film at a buka puasa event with the media yesterday. The tearjerker of a short film was produced in collaboration with Elite Definition Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor for Little Joe Air Freshener in Malaysia. This year’s PROTON Hari Raya short film - PROTON X Little Joe is titled Syurgaku, or My Heaven. It showcases the new Proton S70 C-segment sedan, as well as Proton's 3S/4S outlets.. With a run time of nearly 22 minutes, it features popular Malaysian actors Shaheizy Sam, Sharifah Amani and Fauziah Ahmad Daud under the direction of local actor and director, Pekin Ibrahim. 

PROTON starts in-house tinting services at their Tanjung Malim plant

Recently PROTON announced the opening of the Exclusive PROTON Accessories Tint Centre, located at its production plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak. This allows in-house tinting for Proton cars and it is capable to fit tinting on up to 5,000 vehicles per month.

New TAKATA Airbag Recall - Audi Owners Please Take Note - Q5, A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sportback from 2009 to 2012, TT and R8 from 2014 to 2017, A4, A4 Cabriolet, A6 from 2005 to 2011

 

This is another TAKATA Airbag recall folks. This time it is from Audi. PHS Automotive Malaysia has announce a recall for the cars mentioned - The  Q5, A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sportback from 2009 to 2012, TT and R8 from 2014 to 2017, A4, A4 Cabriolet, A6 from 2005 to 2011. 

Note that the recall should not be taken lightly as it involves the deployment of the airbags in accidents where the explosion caused by the propellant that inflates the airbag is too strong and may cause serious injuries and even death. The change to a new airbag is borne by Audi, so no cost to you as owners.

The All-New 2024 Volkswagen Touareg R-Line now available for RM469,990 onwards - VW's premium SUV is back in Malaysia

Earlier this afternoon, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) officially launched the all-new 2024 Touareg R-Line to the Malaysian market. The locally assembled (CKD) flagship SUV is priced at the recommended retail price of RM469,990, inclusive of Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) but before insurance. The Touareg, now in its third generation, is Volkswagen’s first SUV back in 2002 and was last sold here in 2012. So this is a comeback of sorts for the brand in terms of full sized, large SUVs as well as into the premium market.

Another manufacturer sets foor in Malaysia, JAECOO, with their premium SUV, the J7. Previewed by the public for the first time at the JAECOO Premiere Experience at Desa Park City on the 7th of March 2024, the J7 is the first model from the premium off-road SUV brand slated to be launched officially in Malaysia in the 1st half of 2024,,,, and its actually already March.  Malaysia will be the first in Southeast Asia to launch the J7, following a global rollout in Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Central and South America.

GWM Malaysia announces that their new ORA 07 battery electric sedan is now open for Booking

Another mid-sized EV sedan is coming to town folks! GWM Malaysia has annouced that their GWM ORA 07 fastback styled sedan is now open for booking. This is the latest edition to the retro looking current range of Great Wall Motors' cars to be sold in Malaysia. The Ora Good Cat compact hatchback comes to mind with its unique looks. This ORA 07 definitely takes after that with its rounded styling cues. Quite different from the usual fare we get and somehow blends German retro styling to modern tech.
