The Updated 2018 Mazda 6 is Now Open For Booking - 2.0L & 2.5L Petrol and 2.2L Diesel Variants in Sedan and Touring Wagon Available

Bermaz Motor have announced that the refreshed and New 2018 Mazda 6 will start selling here in Malaysia soon. According to the official Mazda distributors of Malaysia, the New 2018 Mazda 6 has been upgraded with more of a focus on premium feel and elegance. This is in line as the 6 is Mazda’s flagship passenger car (there are no Mazda9 sedans you know, only the full sized Mazda CX-9 SUV).

The new 2018 Mazda6 is the perfect embodiment of Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design philosophy. As such, the D-segment sedan incorporates premium details and technologies based on Mazda’s human-centric development philosophy, with every detail rethought to polish and enhance its overall appearance and performance.

Exterior tweaks over the previous year models includes a new front grille design. Not that the styling needed much tweaks as it does look good from the outset. The 2018 Mazda6 has new sleek LED headlamps design, and newly designed allow wheels. The bumper has been redesigned with air vents to improve the Mazda6’s aerodynamic performance by channelling air to the front tyres. The rear features a new chrome finish, a new rear lamp design and new tailpipe design positioned closer to the outer edges of the vehicle.

In terms of interior updates, the 2018 Mazda6 now sports a dashboard design which has been widened a little and now fits the larger display of the MZADA CONNECT infotainment system display. The MAZDA CONNECT infotainment display has been enlarged to an eight-inch display and has placed higher so for a reduced viewing angle to provide better visibility at a glance. The 2018 Mazda6 now comes with a colour windshield-projection Active Driving Display (for 2.2L & 2.5L variants only). The 2018 Mazda6 front seats are redesigned to form a natural S-shape in the human spine and help improve comfort and reduce fatigue. The front seats have been widened to increase physical support for both driver and passenger.

A USB charging point is now available in the rear centre armrest in addition to the standard cup holders (both very important equipment as it IS 2018 you know, and connectivity and coffee cups seem to be priority these days). As stated in the opening paragraphs, the Mazda6 has been designed to be a little more premium. So, Mazda designers have incorporated even more premium details to enhance the feeling of quality inside and outside of the 2018 Mazda6.

The Mazda6 sports a redesigned suspension and reinforced chassis bracing for a smoother and more enjoyable Jinba-Ittai driving experience. NVH improvements for the Mazda6 were also made with thicker door panels, outer glass, headliner, and door seals; resulting in a more refined experience and befitting its premium passenger car product brief.

For the 2018 Mazda6, Mazda’s latest 360° View Monitor has been added for the 2.2L and 2.5L variants (not for the 2.0L). The parking system which uses four cameras placed at each side shows all sides of the vehicle during parking and reversing manoeuvres to give the driver an accurate picture of the car and its surroundings.

Active Safety Equipment Upgraded
The Mazda6 is now equipped with an even wider range of Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety technology that helps the driver identify potential risks and minimise damage or injury. The sedan in the higher specced 2.2L and 2.5L variants now has Driving Attention Alert (DAA) that “learns” the drivers behaviour at speeds above 65km/h and warns the driver if abnormal driving patterns are detected, and Smart City Brake Support Rear (SCBS R) also in the higher capacity variants also help the Mazda6 prevent low-speed collision when the driver is reversing. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, the driver will be alerted and brakes will be applied automatically to prevent or reduce the impact of a collision.

The Mazda6 has won many auto awards including the 2013 Red Dot Design Awards, the 2016 Autobytel Sedan of the Year, the 2016 ASEAN Executive Car of the Year, the 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick+, and  the 2018 Cars of Malaysia Top Sportswagon and Top Sports Executive Sedans. The New 2018 Mazda6 has won the awards “Best Performance Brand” and “Best Car Styling Brand” of the Kelly Blue Book’s 2018 Brand Image Awards and earned a 5 Star Ratings from Car And Driver.

The New 2018 Mazda6 CBU will be made available here in SKYACTIV-G 2.0L (petrol with 162hp/213Nm), SKYACTIV-G 2.5L (petrol with 192hp / 258Nm) & SKYACTIV-D 2.2L (turbodiesel with 188hp / 450Nm); all SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and sports mode, along with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology which should make the Mazda6 have fun and secure handling.

The 2.0L is available only in Sedan variant, 2.5L available in Sedan and Touring (Wagon) variant, and the 2.2L available only in Sedan variant. 7 colour choices: Snowflake White Pearl, Sonic Silver, Jet Black, Deep Crystal Blue, Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray and Titanium Flash.
