The 2018 Daihatsu Grand Max 1.5 liter panel van with an automatic transmission (AT) option will be launched by Daihatsu Malaysia soon. This is quite a surprise as usually we almost never hear of a commercial van fitted with an automatic transmission here in Malaysia. It fact, this is the first by the looks of it.
Furthermore, Daihatsu Malaysia decided to announce that it will be offering an early-bird, pre-launch promotion with FREE 1 year service maintenance package for bookings made from the 16th August - 30th September 2018.
The Daihatsu Gran Max was first launched here about 8 years ago with its standard fittings and manual gear transmission (MT). This time, the new Gran Max panel van is brought with an automatic transmission and this is designed to cater for the business requirements as well as for the ease of use. It will be targeted at local SME ‘on-the-go’ business owners, corporations and government agencies where most of these small business owners and agencies employees who are used to driving automatics rather than a manual transmission.
Daihatsu Gran Max is powered by a 1.5liter DOHC, DVVT 4 cylinder petrol engine coupled with the said automatic transmission driving the rear wheels (RWD). It has a relatively small 4.7m turning radius and power steering features are to support our local driving habit and enhance easy handling.
It is also capable to carry up to 2,000kg (loaded) gross weight. Other safety features include anti-lock braking system (ABS), dual front SRS airbags and collapsible steering, for extra safety. Quite a lot of safety kit in a commercial van I must say.
Daihatsu have announced that the Gran Max AT will be offered at RM69,888.00 (West Malaysia) for the first 100 units only, including quality guarantee of 3 years warranty/100,000 km.
